I need to get my 1125R in for some warranty work and just moved to southwest Fort Worth. I called the Fort Worth HD dealer and they said they do not service these bikes anymore. I know they are supposed to for so many years, and that I could probably make them do it, but I would prefer someone happy to work on my bike than one that doesnt give a shit about it. Is there a dealership in the area anyone would recommend? Also should I demod the bike (Erik Buell Racing ECM) prior to taking it in? Also looking for some other riders in the area, and some decent roads to ride. Thanks, ~G | ||

Its the common clutch cover leak. I wanted them to do some other checks too, but I want someone who actually knows these bikes, and not just another HD parts replacer. I can replace just about any part but am no expert mechanic. Im sure I could fix the leak myself but if its covered by warranty that gives them a chance to check other common issues. | ||

Longhorn Harley in grandpraire works on bulls and used to be a buell dealership. Pretty good shop with nice people. I live in fort worth if you ever want to go ride. | ||

Gman, there are plenty of Buell riders in DFW. I am in Arlington, not too far from you. There is a Buell group in DFW that has group rides fairly often. They do Buell only rides, but they also mix with other bikes on other days. This coming Sunday Oct 9th is a ride in the works, but it depends on weather. This will be a mixed group with Buells and others. They keep in touch via facebook and text messages. They have a website, but it is not kept up to date since they got the facebook page going. You have to ride out away from town to find most good twisty roads. I think there are better roads down southwest of DFW, so you are on the right side of town. They still do not compare to roads in the hill country south of us, or Arkansas north east of us. These require more travel time. As far as dealers go, Longhorn harley is my dealer, but they have never wrenched on my bike. I have done everything myself in the couple of years I have owned my 1125R. They seem to be good people, but I have zero experience with the service department. They have helped me find parts on more than one occasion. There is also a Buell trained tech at an independent shop in Fort Worth. He used to work at Longhorn Harley. PM me if you are interested in the Buell rides. I'll send you the links to everything. As far as the clutch weep goes, it is a very easy fix. I have done mine already. If it ever leaks again, I will go with the Erik Buell Racing part. If you need help changing it, I am willing to help out. | ||

Pmjolly, where do you guys typically ride? I live south of Oklahoma City. I'd be willing to drive downt to Dallas to get in a couple of good rides a year. This season in almost gone, but next year would be nice. | ||

The Erik Buell Racing part is most likely the way to go, but with an upcoming wedding I am also trying to save some coin. The fiance already didnt like me buying another battery for the thing. Gman I totally feel you. My wife didn't like me buying the bike, but gave in and now does not understand the fact that it needs tires. She thinks that me having it was enough and it sitting in the garage was supposed to pacify me until the end of time. | ||

I'll send the info on the Buell group and rides via email. The ride this Sunday is hinging on the weather. No one is afraid to go if it is hit and miss showers, but a total rain day is no fun. If it is a total rain out, they might still get together for breakfast or lunch somewhere. Motorhead, we usually go southwest of DFW towards Stephenville. We have gone due west towards Palo Pinto, and east towards I dunno. I was following that day. The rides typically consist of a long haul to get to any resemblance of a twisty road. I don't know if it would be worth the drive from OK City, but you would be more than welcome. These Buell rides with this group are very laid back for the most part, but they are very strict about behavior on the road. They ride in a staggered formation near the speed limit until we get to the backroads away from town. Once we get away from most of the traffic and hit the backroads, we sort of spread out single file with the faster riders up front. We don't pass each other unless waved on. We don't crowd each other either. We also never leave anyone behind. We have riders with extensive track experience and relatively new riders all on the same rides. We always have someone hang back and keep an eye on the new riders as the fast riders are carving it up down the road. The group strongly suggests proper gear at all times, with a minimum of jacket, gloves, and helmet. The quickest way to get booted out of the group is to exhibit stupid road behavior like stunting down the freeway. We don't do that on the street. We don't want anyone to get hurt. Everybody is friendly, and there is plenty of fun, no matter what your experience. I don't organize the rides, but am a regular attendee. I'll send the rest of the info via email after dinner. I highly recommend the Erik Buell Racing clutch cylinder kit. I love mine, I actually have a friction zone now, not an on/off switch. Oh yea, the not leaking thing is a bonus too. | ||

If you don't mind driving to Austin, Cowboy harley has been good to me on my warranty issues. The just fixed my clutch leak and even replaced the damaged puck under warranty. I don't recommend stealerships but this place really rocks! | ||

Ill keep Austin in mind but I cant believe with so many Buells in the DFW area there is no decent HD stealership mechanic for these bikes. | ||

I know of a good mechanic, but the dealership he works for changed ownership hands and I've gotten several unpleasant reports of them and can't recommend them anymore as a result. | ||
