Its limited by how fat the rider is. A stock bike with stock gearing will bounce off the rev limiter in 6th, which will put you in the 170's depending on the tire.
I'd have to say that if you are actually racing against a race-prepared 1125, you might be racing against a bike with lower top speed since most folks change the gearing.
He is only 140 lbs and is very fast on a buell. I however am 190 lbs and we are very evenly matched once to the top end of the speedo.....Well i can break 200 mph now so. I usually win there but those 1125's are pretty DAM sweet. I am considering buying one also and selling one of my other bikes to fund the new bike. I am going to have to help my GF buy a car before i buy it or she will be pissed because i have 4 bikes now and she thinks that my goal of 6 bikes is stupid.
It will do 160 easy trust me i was right behind it trying not egg him on but when he rides that bike he just has to fly!! I think he just doesn't like me flying around him at 180+ I know it chaps his hide. He has a different exhaust system on it and it sounds beastly i love it.
I've seen 160+ a few times but it needs to be a pretty long (and quiet) road to get there, 145 is easy it'll get there quite quickly but the next 15mph takes a bit of building.
having said that I'm about 280lb so I'm not exactly helping matters.
6 bikes is just right. 1. Buell 1125 for sportin around 2. Suzuki V-Strom 650 for whatever you feel like that day. 3. DR 650 for off road stuff 4. Norton 850 for cool factor 5. '74 Ducati 750 for the eyes and home decor. 6. '48 Indian Chief to keep the HD fags in their place.
Girlfriends come and go. A Buell is forever.
Now how could you do without ANY of those categories?
Does anyone get handle bar wobble at 125+ whats wrong with it 1125R.
Too many things can contribute, but the easiest things to check are your tire pressure/wear and suspension settings. Riding position and attire are a factor too, if your jacket is turning into a parachute you will give unintentional input into the bars. Both a bone stock R and CR will do 150mph+ without issue.
First few times I opened it up past 130 It scared the shit out of me. But now its what I call normal to me. I just let the front end shake how it pleases and I haven't had a tank slapper issue in over two years.
Yeah I know I didn't notice it till I was at work but on the way home a cagger though he was fast and passed me at 90. So I went wot in 5, hit 6th then wham 152 slowed down for traffic. There is about 4-5 inches of steel belt showing
I'm as aerodynamic as the Michelin Man even at full tuck...maybe if wore noting but a thong and greased myself down I could approach the 176 I saw on the dyno.
I got 174 out of my 1125R last weekend. Got D adams Keda RT4 on her with the Erik Buell Racing ECM tune. other then that its stock. still had throttle left but was running out of track fast. lol.
if you havent heard his exhaust and are looking i would highly recommend his work.

And here come the opinions Hybrid If it doesn't concern you then why even start down this road, comments like that kill the good vibe. Its his bike and his life
Luckily I have thick skin and no I don't get offended to easily. So no hard feeling from me. Myself and everyone here is entitled to there personal opinions. I just think it funny when people have "sport" cars and I see the passenger egging on the driver to "beat" a bike. And dannybuell that is where I bought my last set of tires and was looking there already. Let the good vibes roll lol
...maybe if wore nothing but a thong and greased myself down... Like I'll be able to sleep tonight with that image in my head. Pass the brain scrubber...
