After being quoted $650.00 I decided to do it myself.

Taking it down

Old man helped me out too.

I just like this picture.

Fun times.

Took all night.

With my savings I got a RT3 from Dean with the Erik Buell Racing ECU along with the Flexi-glass full faring kit.

I love this set up.

It looks so close to removing the frame. I wonder if it would just be easier.

How far out were the valves?

I dont know Rpm4x4 it was taken down pretty far but there was still a lot that would of had to come out to take the frame off.

Captian_america all the valves were right in spec. They must of done good adjusting them the first go around.

Guess well have to see how the look at 24k now or when ever its due next.

Thanks.

It was a nice way to find out a lot about the bike. Dropping the motor down was crazy.

I'm going to attempt to lift the whole frame and front end off the engine and swing arm.

What all has to be disconnected to rotate the engine? Obviously the motor mount bolts, probably the airbox, maybe the throttle cables, probably the radiators or the cooling hoses that go to the radiators, probably the oil cooler. What else?

There are allot of electrical connections the need to be disconnected also the fuse holders under the seat because they give you the slack you need to move the main harness while the motor drops. I also got a can of Dye Electric Grease for when we put all the connections back together. The motor mount and pinch bolts come out, all of the air box assembly. The throttle cable gets unhooked. I think we loosened the radiators and you also have to take off the K brackets, but we didn't touch the hoses that go to the radiator or the oil cooler.

The manual tells you everything you need to do and its not to bad. Just time consuming.

It takes quite a bit longer to figure out the engine rotation procedure the first time around. The second time, it actually can be done fairly quickly - like an hour- provided you don't run into any snags like stripped/stuck bolts. The trick is getting your frame and motor supports worked out. The manual is a big plus as it keeps you from missing some of the non-obvious items.
