Ok so I've put about 1300 miles on the CR since i bought it and the previous owner has had the charging system recall done. As I ride sometimes when im in city traffic when the bike gets a little warmer like 200+ the battery light would come on and i would see the voltage drop down and hover around 11.8-12.3v ok, while i was down Florida earlier this month the voltage dropped to as low as 11.3v and the bike was running at like 220-230 (dam tampa traffic) and ive been back up since the 10th and saw the battery light come on once while i was at a long light in town and hasnt been on since...until sunday morning at about 1:00am while on my way back from Easton, PA i took the back way home and as i crossed the Frenchtown bridge to go back into NJ the check engine light came on as well as the battery light and my first thought was stator went...ok i had 13miles to go and watched as the voltage slowly went down until about two miles from my house the system voltage warning came on and lost all guages and tried to make it home when about a mile later the power cut and i came to a stop and had to push her home...(an hour later and 2,000calories lighter i got home) so she is still under the factory warranty until October 20-something'th of this year and im taking it to the dealer to get work done. So my question is what should i do to prevent this from happening in the future when my warranty is up? Im obviously going to try to push for the 08 harness and if not should i just have them put a new stater or VR in and then later in the year ship the stater to custom rewind or is there another fix that will stop this inconvenience from happening? And what do you think actually failed? Is this what happens when the stater fails or is this a VR failure, or is it impossible to tell without taking a voltmeter to it?

Any help or advice is appreciated and until Lizzy is back on the road ill be enjoying the Blast ...but seriously it sucks even tho the blast is a fun little scooter i want my baby back

When you say "is it impossible to say without putting a voltmeter to it?" I have to say I don't quite understand why that would be an issue. It's a 10 min (max) job to test the stator output - all you have to do is remove the seat and unplug one connector.

A multimeter is a really cheap investment for a toolkit, once you have one you'll wonder how you managed without one.

If I had to guess, I'd suggest your stator has probably failed BUT it could be the relay on the subharness, or the VR or the battery... My personal "order" for likelihood is stator, then relay, then battery then VR but that's just my personal opinion.

There is no 2008 "harness" to install.. There is a 2008 stator and rotor, but good luck getting HD to pay for that. The rotor is ~$800 and as yours won't have failed it's unlikely they'l pay for a new one.

HD are paying for mine to be custom rewound, but only cause they didn't have any 09 stators in stock to give me and I raised a fuss..
