I'm thinking of picking up a Hero Blue airbox cover, for my 09 Artic White R. Does anyone here have a blue cover on their white R? If so, could you share a pic or two, please? And if not... do you think it would be overkill putting the blue cover on the bike? Not match well? Thanks! | ||

i don't have any pics, but i tried it with mine, din't care for it. assuming you are refering to hero blue as the translucent blue, it just didn't look right with the large black air box under the blue lid with the shape of the rest of the white plastics. it worked with on the xb's but not the same on the 1125 IMO | ||

I'll see if I have any pics, I recall seeing a white 09 with hero blue airbox at Homecoming, it looked really out of place on the bike. | ||

I never liked the transparent bodywork. Too brittle near the mounting holes. | ||

Blue racing stripes over the center of the tank like a Ford GT/Shelby Mustangs of the 60s...follow it onto the tail and finish it at the tail light...a good graphics shop (1 hour Signs???- ) can provide you with the right stuff - patience and a hair dryer will let you lay it down "professionally" ...or go down to the hardware store and buy some blue electrical tape to "visualize" it before you spend the money on custom graphics...the tank needs to be white - maybe some small Blue (or red)Maple Leafs on the sides Eh?...I wish I had your plastics! - good luck | ||

the biggest thing is the 1125r inner air box fills the tank cover so it doesn't let in any light if you did like bright graphic's on the inner it might look ok | ||

I have a kick ash translucent cover on mine and no inner cover. Looks cool with the bright white stock air cleaner. | ||

I agree it would look betetr if you didn't run the air air cover. Or if you ran no filter and used those little filter socks on a set of raised stacks. Some transulcent body parts may look interesting though... | ||

You're going to lose the pressurized airbox if you pull the inner cover....and when you lose that, you'll lose HP. Just sayin'. On the blue...if you have or put on blue wheels, I think it would look OK. | ||

Paint the inner airbox white, or a white racing stripe to go with a Hero Blue stripe from stem to stern. | ||

I know, i know the inner air box is there for more than just noise reduction. I did peek at my rear spark plug after running like this for a few thousand miles and it seems tan and happy. Erik Buell Racing ECM for FMF pipe whippetlovr shoot me a pm and I can easily send a pic off my phone... uploading here is a bit cumbersome for my lazy ass. | ||

i don;t know how anyone could ride without the inner airbox cover..... I tried it ONCE and thought for sure i had blown out both ear drums... Holy hell batman that crap was LOUD!!!!!!!!!! Back to topic i have a kickash cover on my Black R and i like it.. i placed some stickers on the inner box. I thought about adding LED's but nah... I dig the look without the inner cover, but the noise was just too much for me...Keep in mind i have a HMF pipe also, so noise isn;t an issue for me. Ear bleeding is though | ||

True, but you gain low-end torque and a very nice sound as well. The HP losses are only evident over 80mph which is when the ram-air effect starts to kick in. When I ran mine without the inner airbox cover, I could not get the bike to go over 145mph. Considering that there's nowhere near here where I can legally do so on the street, I didn't mind the losses.
True when WOT. Again, as long as you're not planning to really flog her, it's fine. Another side-effect of removing the inner airbox cover is additional vibration, particularly to the passenger seat. Made my wife physically ill after a long ride. She refused to ride on back as long as I had the inner airbox cover off. Decide for yourself if that's a pro or con. |
