I got an itch that needs scratching, I'm loving the look of the all new aprilia tuorno v4, also have always wanted to own a ducati, the 1098's are now affordable but then here in the UK I can get a new 2010 RC8 for under £7000

Can't afford 2 bikes, shall I just throw some more cash at my 1125, I would like to be around the 155whp to keep this bike.

Probably sell it.

Cheaper and more reliable to buy a bike with the power you want.

Hmmm....155Hp a lofty goal
tuorno - still too new - wait a year - kinda "chunky" looking...C of G kinda high?
Mechanically inclined? - the Ducs are a PIA to work on but you'll have to learn how if you want to ride it...instead of it living at the dealer waiting for service.
2010 RC8 - the US press didn't like them - fueling issues - WP suspension - can you get dealer/aftermarket support?
Go to the Dark side ========> K1300S
some blokes who read magazines voted it #1
http://www.bmwsuperbikes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f =6&t=11784
will meet and exceed your lust for HP...all it takes is money - good luck

I'm thinking a map from TM, some stacks and I'd like to have some head work done.

I'm very mechanically inclined, been in the trade for years.

The duke is just so pretty, the RC8 weird but wonderful (the reason I bought the 1125).

Don't get me wrong, I'm very attached to my 'R' but the missus has hinted that if I propose (she wants the diamond, been together 7 years) I can get a new bike.

That opportunity should not be brushed off as it won't happen again.

The Turono should slow my road riding down abit being unfaired, so that's a plus.

Or just keep my 'R' and go to town on it ?

Albert, out of interest what you offering !

...there will come a time in your life when the wrenching gets old - all you really want to do is ride - and enjoy the ride (kinda like Peter O'Toole in the opening scenes of Lawrence of A on his Brough S)...as I enter the autumn of my life- I look back at all the "experimental craft" I have built and raced and wondered how much better my riding/racing skills would be if I just bought the latest and greatest and rode it instead of wrenching on it...it's a great time to be a motorcyclist - the factories turn out amazing machines ( if you can afford one)....wives don't like grease under the finger nails (at least mine doesn't) good luck on your choice.

I'm not sure why you think you can't afford 2 bikes when you're considering either chucking a (not inconsiderate) sum of money at the 1125 or looking at the RC8...

My second bike cost £1900 a couple of weeks back, the insurance is an extra £60 a year on top of the Buell, it's cheaper to run, will use less tyres (both of which offset the road tax). It'll keep the miles off the Buell too which helps residual value..

I reckon it'll pay for itself in 2 years.

It's only if you're looking for a second bike of similar costs to the Buell that things change. My £1900 ZZR1100 is every bit as "fast" (in the real world) and a lot more comfie two-up.. The Buell is now my "toy"..

I was thinking of selling the 1125R to get an 1198 Ducati, at least you can get the parts here in the UK, quite confused as well as to what to do for the best.
I agree also that the new Aprilia V4 Tuono looks the business but do I trust Italian electrics to be reliable with the UK weather - the same could be said with the Ducati as well.
If you want it Albert666 then it is on the UKBEG for sale forum.
I'm taking it on the track soon so I shall find out if the rigid front disc mounting kit and race pads cure the possibility of brake fade.
I'm getting married for the second time in three weeks and the good lady who likes bikes very much has just read this post over my shoulder and has suggested that I retire my 11 year old SRAD track bike, put the Buell on the track and off the road permanently and next year get the Ducti - what a woman.
Oh and pay half towards a Merc SLK for her - I knew there woudl be a catch

How much you spending on that diamond? Buy HER the RC8 or whatever instead! She should have more fun with that anyway and really, the whole "buy a diamond ring" conspiracy is just to see how much you'll/we'll spend on them for something useless anyway. I bought my woman an engagement helmet. It's silver metalflake so it's sparkly anyway.

ut do I trust Italian electrics to be reliable with the UK weather

Short answer - Yes.

The days of unreliable Italian Electrics are long gone. Bear in mind that the Ducati Quality Assurance Manager "defected" from BMW a few years back and he's made some significant improvements to their QC Measures.

Italian Electronics are "world leading" now (well theirs and BMWs).

Still having Stator issues on the Aprillias though....

Jules - the Tuono APRC sounds like a great bike but I would trust Ducati elecs more than Aprilia, my eighties Darmah sport which became the basis for a £27K special had Bosch elecs and was ok but I must go onto the Ducati forums and see what current owners think going further, can't wait to use the 1125R on the track in July
