Does anyone know if H-D is compensating 1125r owners for the clutch cover leak problems if they are out of warranty, or if there is a reliable fix?

You can try and contact Harley customer service, depending on how far out of warranty you are you might be able to get them to cover it under good will. The fix is a kit (part number X2086.1AM) that includes a new piston and seals.

Don't waste your time. Had my bike in for the "fix". 1k miles later I have Niagara Falls of the clutch cover.

Talk to Brumbear. What he has is working so far...more than we can say for Buell's fix.

The Buell fix is at well over 12,000 miles and counting on my bike, not another drop has been spilled. If yours is still leaking after the fix, you got something else wrong causing problems.

Brumbear,
What did you do to fix it?

Dunno, read quite a few instances of clutch weep occuring even with the new magical fix other than just mine.

But whatever, trust in the dealer, trust in Harley. Best bike ever.

Tony - an incomplete fix or something else wrong?

Dunno, personally, mine dribbled for a year and a half.
Never really got worse than a very slow dribble, I topped off the res 2 or 3 times.
Got the X2086.1AM kit and a new RevB cover over a year ago, not a drop lost since.

Working at a Buell dealer, I have seen a lot of successes and no returns for the dribble so it's not just me.

I just had a local make me some seals and I put em in I did not do it to fix all I did it cause I didn't want to wait for a couple weeks and it has held for 2K miles so far. I don't worry so much about it anyway the seal replacement takes like 40 min start to finish so if I have to do it more than a couple times no biggy to me.

I don't know what went wrong with mine. It was at the dealer last fall to get the fix. They had it a week and then called and said they "found out" HD had an updated kit (I had TOLD them that BEFORE I dropped it off). Then I waited another week for them to get the part and do the work.

Fast forward to riding season. I get a covered side cover after each ride now. My commute involves some stop and go and some "guard shacks" so I am on/off the clutch a lot...but still.

I've been riding a year now on a revision B cover and the updated seal kit with absolutely no leaks.

You can change the cover 100 times, it still wont make a difference as the problem isn't the cover.

They did a cover with my kit also. I didn't understand it...and I lost my "1125CR" decal in the process. Glad to see I am not the ONLY one with repeated issues. Somehow I feel better.

Does anyone have a detailed procedure to install the new kit? I have the service manual and the mechanical ability, I just don't want to screw it up.

thanks Froggy! great to see the exploded view.

So the cover just pops off? Doesn't look like it should be that easy...

Mine is leaking very slowly - need to check with my local HD to see if they can order the parts to fix before i have to bring it in. I have an 09 with Rev B.

I want to add something I don't know if its relevant but I drained out the dot4 and use dot5 it is synthetic and perhaps works better or is less corrosive on the seals?

Dot5 shouldn't be as hydroscopic.

Awesome! Thanks Froggy. I'll be getting the kit this week and installing it next weekend. This is my 1st major problem since I bought it in Jan. 2008. I love this bike and I hope this is not the beginning of more problems.

Talked to H-D customer service on Friday. They said to take it to my dealer, have them check it out and then contact H-D customer service. My dealer called today and said that H-D would cover everything!
