So I am going to put my stock exhaust back on the CR this weekend but can't find my original bolts or nuts. There are none available at any dealer within 100 miles of me and they say it will take between 7 and 10 business days to order them.

My question is; how awful would it be if I head over to Home Depot and find some bolts / washers / nuts that are the same size? I do have one bolt from the original 4.

Joseb - I cant speak for everyone, but thats what I'd do, go to a local hardware store and get bolts and such there
A lot of times a small hardware store has the hardware cheaper than Lowes/Home Depot, and FAR cheaper than the dealer (based on my experiences in the past and even last week when needing hardware for my buell)

Good luck!

They're 8mm bolts and nuts, get nylock nuts. I don't recall the length, but 35 or 40 mm sounds right for some reason.

No disrespect, but I don't trust nylock nuts around the heat of an exhaust. My preference is stainless steel bolts, lock washers, and nuts. I agree about going to the hardware store vs ordering from the dealer though.

you only need one nylock and that ones away from the heat, the rest are captive nuts in the silencer brackets

Thanks for the replies guys!

I am glad it's not a major no-no to go this route, although really, they're just screws and nuts lol. I'm just really anxious to get the bike out. Originally planned on ordering the OE ones from Erik Buell Racing but I missed the cut-off and now they are not shipping for the rest of the month.

i swap the things so often i actually cut the bracket off on the left (gear change) side, makes it easier to change, the other three hold it good enough
