I have actually read threads on other forums complaining about the style of the BWB admins & mods. There are people that do not come here because of that.

I've never seen a thread complaining about the style of the admins & mods of any other forums

Hey, there's a certain percentage of "Harley guys" here who were closet "sport bike guys" but had to wait for a HD acceptable venue to come out, so you have to expect a certain amount of confused social interactions as they find their way into a more congenial segment of society. The tough guy "don't take no crap from nobody" persona needs time to adjust to the love and niceness of the sportbike world. Or maybe they still feel FTW. I don't mind. I can take it. I'm from Jersey.

Weird, I just assumed all Hardcore HD riders were accountants and middle-management?

That's a JOKE BTW as I can see some tempers are already a bit frayed..

Oh and BTW, I consider myself a Buell enthusiast, if i asked myself if the Buell is perfect then the honest answer would be "no" but then nothing is (except my wife)..

Is it the best bike I have ever owned? - "Yes"
Will i keep it forever - I doubt it (not in my nature) but will I keep it for a long time? - "Yes"

Am I a fan of Erik's work - "Hell Yes".

Am I a brandfag.....Ummm, dunno TBH I assume that's an Americanism that I'm not aware of.

Having said that, I do own a Buell cap, sweatshirt, leather jacket, t-shirts, lighter, pen, keyfob...... Ummm, OK so maybe that's heading into "brandfaggery".. But I buy that stuff from Erik Buell Racing so that some money goes towards keeping a venture that I admire going.

Am I blind to certain undesirable "features" of the 1125 - "no", but they are pretty trivial and easily fixed and the benefits far outweigh the negatives. : )

Jules, Buell jacket, cap, T-shirt...you are a brandfag. LOL!

Seriously, it's okay. I love Buells and the man behind the bike, but I'm not blind to their faults. I'll say it like it is because my Buells have never been as reliable as my HOnda's. Yet, I still love the Buells and when I choose to ride a bike for fun, I take the 1125R (or prior to that the XB12R). They are just plain fun bikes with a practical, real world twist to them that fits my wants and needs perfectly. I also like that they are an American brand, although I don't mind imported brands either.

I'm usually not the type that follows the crowd. I always believe if there is ever a Zombie invasion I would survive because I won't run with all the rest of the herd!

So if a guy owns a couple Buells, wears Buell hats, jackets, shirts, has Buell stickers on his vehicles and is proud to be a Buell owner/rider that makes him a......ahh man.

That would be a good description of me, too, but I've been called a troll, a hater, and a number of other things.

I think to be a true brandfag or fanboi, you have to continuously make pro-Buell arguments even when there's a legitimate design compromise or disadvantage involved, then change the subject of the debate a half-dozen times or so, and finally declare victory when you find a fact related to something completely different from the original topic.

Just my opinion.

I have owned two Buells, and a host of others...Bikes are like fishing rods or golf clubs...no ONE bike is good for everything...and no ONE manufacturer makes the best bike for a particular type of riding.

Buell currently does not make dirtbikes...Buell also does not build (at this time) a small displacement sportbike...if he ever does (and I am still in good enough shape to ride) I will buy one....until then, I am stuck with what is available, or what I care to build myself....and the older I get, the more I lean towards "turnkey" operation...

JD hit the nail on the head.

I have Buell shirts, a hat, key chains etc etc etc. That doesn't make one a brandfag though.

I'll never get rid of either of my Buells god willing.

Each Buell Forum has its own 'tone'. I'm a Mod on another Buell Forum and it's rare we get complaints about us, although it does happen from time to time......'can't please all of the people etc, etc....'
The chief accusation is there is an 'inner circle', of course this isn't true, but there is a bunch of us who meet regularly, ride/race/trackday together, so some of the banter does get a little surreal at times for those in isolation.

"Sounds like a complement"

It isn't. It's a curse. With time one may overcome it. When you do, it is incredibly liberating. Yes, I speak from my own personal battle with know-it-allism.

Repeat after me; "it's okay to admit being mistaken, being incorrect; integrity and honesty are more much important."

Where did this statement come from?
I think mods (oh, before anyone corrects me....'custodians') here are good. I dont care for the owner and think he has a bad attitude most of the time. Not all of the time, but a lot. Other than that I've never noticed a mod abusing powers, deleting posts/threads, banning people etc
I dont think this is the perfect forum, I've yet to find one of those, but its pretty dang good.

That our little BadWeB Buell Forum has 21,000+ registered users and still steadily climbing after 13 years kinda speaks for itself.

People who come here to repeatedly applaud Harley-Davidson may be met with a bad attitude. It's pretty simple for me and HDI, I no like. If that's a problem for you, then you really ought to take it to an H-D forum. I have no stomach for it here. Maybe in time, but not now, not after the CEO effectively called a friend a liar.

I agree; it is a bad attitude, one that I come by honestly and justifiably.

I would agree. But why do you think that is?

Buell dealer support has been historically worse than many other brands. Especially in the area of dealer knowledge. The best source of Buell knowledge is other Buell owners. That's the reason I come to this site. I think that's why lots of people join
BWB.

I think the Buellaid comments come from a feeling that conversations on BWB aren't necessarily 'open discussions.' There seems to be this underlying need to keep the conversations complimentary. That rubs some people the wrong way.

If something is good say it's good. If it's bad it's OK to say that too.

Generally, you're expected to have a degree of civility here.

Blake: You don't see it because you're drunk with it.

That's like saying you can't see the contacts in your eyes and then not believing they are there simply because of that fact.

Have faith.

And the reason why there's so many members here is exactly as Tpoppa said. This was the first. Dealer support is shit and there's a large repository here. The 1125 section is the only part of BWB that I can't stand.

But why?
There is no reason for people to catch crap from others, especially the owner, for liking a different product. Yes, we know that HD shut Buell down, but why harp on the past like that? Why shut out all HD products due to one decision the CEO made 1.5~ years ago?

And maybe I missed it, but where did anyone even bring HD up in this thread? Why did you instantly go to a Harley related response?

I don't so much think it's "liking a different product" so much as some of the comments are as biased in HD's favour as others are in Buell's favour. I can't find anything about HD that deserves applauding - but that's just me...

I think lots of us (I include myself in this) have a natural bias to a product we particularly like and after all this is an Buell enthusiasts board so I'd expect that bias to generally favour all things Buell..

As for harping on about the past, well it has only been a year and a half, wounds like that take a long time to heal.

Some of the people who post on here have been (and continue to be) personally impacted by that decision (I'm not one of them fortunately) and there's still a feeling that HD continue to be a completely useless company run by morons.. It's a valid opinion in my opinion..

I'm normally careful to make sure that if I am expressing an opinion I make that clear, not everybody does that and occassionally that rubs some folk up the wrong way.

As tot he original topic of the thread, I think the moderators do a great job, and it's obvious they are human beings just like the rest of us : )
