Looking for an upgrade in the seat area as I am headed on a road trip. Probably the only road trip Ill ever do so I dont want to break the bank.

Anyone know what our best options are at this point?

thanks todd

check out www.greatdaytoride.com Touring guys rave about his seat mods and its on the list of things I would like to get for the bike. You will have to send him your seat to be modified but most reviews I have seen have been very happy with the end result.

I installed one of these, from
Seat Concepts. Easy to do, works
very well. I did find it a bit
too flat for my boney butt, so ground the foam to to make the rear area somewhat concave..

By far the best seat I have found is by Baldwin.

I have one from Baldwin. It's absolutely fantastic ... no more cramps after two hours of riding. More legroom for my 33" inseam. Loren is a great guy and provides a fantastic service.

These are a pretty cheap alternative, especially for a "one time" kinda thing like you describe.

$50-$100 depending on the model....

I have no road time on a baldwin, but my parking lot impression was that their seats are fantastic. Comfy and look well built.

Jeepin, I just ordered exactly the same seat you have.... I hope I am as happy as you with it (I was worrying about whether the red stitching would match; nice to know it does).

Hey Echo,

It's fantastic. I spoke with Loren about the stitching color before I ordered to make sure it matched. It's perfect. Not too stiff, but stiff enough for side to side body shifting.

I contacted www.greatdaytoride.com about getting the 1125 done, and he said he doesn't do them because the seat is too thin; this limits what he can do, and he said that he isn't happy with the end result. So he doesn't do 1125's.

anyone have the baldwin in leather?

It sounds nice, but not sure if it's worth the premium?

My bike is garage parked so only get wet while parked at work.

Gel or no gel?

thx!!

I did the gel and also the matching passenger seat. I figured if I was going to do it, might as well do it right.
My wife is more than pleased over the stock seat, lol.

Also I don't think I've ever had better customer service than Loren gave me.

I put a baldwin on mine. Nice seat. Been on a couple 1000+ mile trips.

I also put a layer of insulation on the bottom
of the seat pan, since things were starting to fry down there on long run. World of difference.

I have a Baldwin(with gel) on my Uly and a Buell Select seat on Loretta.
Both have made a Homecoming trip, the trip last year on the Uly/Baldwin combo was VERY comfy.
The Uly is much better suited to a long trip than an 1125R, with the bigger seat and luggage.
On Loretta, the Select seat trumps the stocker, big time, when out of full tuck - sitting up you have PADDING.

I made it from East Troy to Longmont, CO in about 20 hours.
I stopped and walked around often but rarely more than a half hour,

I am sure I could do an Iron Butt on either one tho... the seats are both that comfortable.
