Once you get south of about US rt30, the roads in Ohio are pretty good. Obviously the further south you go, the better the condition and fun factor get.

SW Wisconsin and the adjacent states. Area called The Driftless. Great roads, nice people, few cops, neat little towns.

Here's a nice article that mentions specific counties included in 'the Driftless':

I'm late checking in here, but Highways 18, 330, and 38 through the San Bernardino mountains in CA --- Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, and environs --- provide upwards of 100 miles of twisties with breathtaking views.

Caveat: traffic is congested at the usual times, and CA drivers --- commuters as well as supposed professionals like buses and big rigs --- have to rank among the rudest in the nation.

Be a far shorter list to list the BAD ones.

: )

In 44 states on a Buell I've yet to find a state that didn't have some killer roads.

I find CA drivers to be the most Motorcycle-Aware drivers in the nation. Many move over to let you pass or split lanes in traffic. Of course, there's always the occasional d***head. But in general, when CA drivers see your headlight they freeze or give you room.

During rush hour, you need to be on your A-Game. No lolly-lagging on your bike. You'd better be assertive, not get in anybody's way, not go too fast nor too slow, and all will be well. If you split lanes to the front, haul ass out of there when the light turns green or that group of SUV's and minivans will eat you alive.

Try riding in other places. People will block you to prevent you from lane splitting even in the worst traffic. Of course that's illegal in all states but CA. Still, why would anyone block you and act like a vigilante?

Well ya (It's not fair that you get head of the line privileges), you need to wait in line with everyone else.

They could do it too if they had a bike. That's like saying its not fair that the Prius gets 50 MPG and your giant SUV only gets 12.
There is quite a big disadvantage to riding a motor cycle when you compare two cars crashing into each other to a car and a motorcycle crashing into each other. Because of reasons like that, motorcycles should be able to take advantage of the perks.
And really, when do ever wait for a guy on a motorcycle, or are caught behind one that is too slow?
Everyone else could do it too if they had the balls to ride a bike.

bit off topic but i'm usually pretty pissed by the mercedes or bmw that runs up to the end of the exit and then cuts in.

at least if they're on a bike i'll give them the spot vs them doing stop/go feet down and overheating.

fair...meh. prima donna fu*ks talking on their cell phone just swerving over (no blinker) makes my blood boil.

Funny I grew up in SE MN, never called it "driftless". Learn something everyday. Good riding though. Follow the river road up to the twin cities. Nice cool ride in the heat, a few of us are riding up the river to Joes Crab shack latter in the summer.
