How long do they last? I would conceder getting one if they do what they claim. $120 isn't too bad.

I think we would need the more expensive 8 cell. Only other concern is they hold their charge really well but when it goes its all at once... dead

I've had one on a race bike for the better part of 2 years.

Cycle gear has a lifetime warranty battery! No idea if it's any good, but should be or they will have lots of claims.

I saw one of these at a bike show. Weighs less than 2 lbs. Claims to last 10yrs.
Shorai Lithium Ultra Low Weight Motorcycle Battery 18 AH. Only downside is the price.

That's a LOT of money for an A123 battery setup (which I'm sure is what that is).

8 cell is $70 cheaper at MOTY designs...

Funny, there is a guy with a Shoari on his Uly, it exploded in about 10 weeks, leaving him stranded in Mexico. Hopefully not the norm.

WOW, between battery and exhaust, that’s two quick hitters at around 20 lbs total savings. The more I ride, the more I prefer lighter over power. I dream of having a 300 lbs wet minus fuel bike with 70 or 80, maybe tops 100 HP, almost like an RS250 on steroids. Too bad my fat a$$ is more of an impact on the weight factor haha

For street application you will need 12 cells version. 8 cells wont do for buells, namely because the fan will drain your bike if you kill engine frequently in short period.

Same question as 99buellx1, however, regarding the shorai power, any one tried it? I like that the shorai power looks to package the same as OEM. I personally don't want to re-rout and / or cut the harness, it's just one more water intrusion point and / or another chafing opportunity.

Batteries in both my Buells are fine, 08 and 09.
Working the parts counter, I sell a LOT of batteries.
The small ones, 65948-00A (or 65958-04A that we use) last 4-6 years average with good care.

At that rate, I will look at an Erik Buell Racing or Shorai solution in 1-3 years for Loretta, then hopefully a year later, Bluenose the Uly.

I've been reading up on this a lot even though I don't currently need a battery. If one went out tomorrow I would probably get the Ballistic Parts battery but who knows what will happen in the next year or two. It seems the quality is going up and the prices are coming down. So far, I've got 2 years on my 1125CR battery, 7 years on my stock original Road King battery, and 9 (yes 9) years on my Sportster AGM Harley-badged battery. I gave my original Sportster battery to a friend after it was 6 years old (the bike died but I later found out it was the alternator not the battery) - he used it for two more years. So far I've been very lucky with Lead Acid batteries in my bikes. But still, they are heavy boat anchors.

Hey guys, battery is deader than a doornail and good news, I’ll get one of these upgrades. The $154 Shorai Power is out of stock, they have the next level up. So I was wondering about the Ballistic Performance. The Ballistic terminals have the non-OEM orientation; how are you guys working with this? Surely the thick gauge wire won’t flex to the terminal.

Thanks,
Jay
