just got the bike broken down and checked the valves.....right within specs...DARN IT haha...now dont get me wrong, I am glad I dont have to go buy shims and replace them it is a little annoying...however I know that next time I do this I could most likely do it in half the time. It is really a pretty simple procedure, everyone should do their own valves.

Reports at most bikes' valves are fine at the first check anyway.

So are the "finger followers" specifically for measuring the valve clearances? That's what it seemed like from the service manual.

You measure between the follower and the shim. Mine had 7 out of 8 that needed to be changed, I was able to re-use only 1 shim.
