The only way hardly dangerous can have a chance of winning is to race themselves. It's like watching camel racing, except these camels have ship's anchors for engines. Let's kill the only American sport bike company (Buell) and create another outdated version of a proven slow sled!

That about sums it up.

Oh and BTW, they expect people to buy it up. }

90hp, geesh, don't hurt yourself. I like the kid "it's like riding the 125, you have to keep the speed up in the corners, but with a big weight difference". Now if anyone there actually knew what he was saying, they'd probably not have put that part in the clip, he essentially said it's a pig of a 125 that you can't brake too hard in the corners due to the power to weight ratio sucking.

The fact that HD doesn't see it as an embarasment to put out a "road race" bike (pahleez) that has half the power & 40% more weight of a real road race bike is a sign they are clueless.

And for the record, I'm no hater, just call it like it is IMO. And I agree, best thing to happen to Erik is the separation from HD, they never "got it" and never will.

The 90 HP is fine. The chassis is a joke.

I highly doubt H-D would put such Buell icons such as the under-engine muffler and ZTL brakes. No way. And XB wheels too!

May as well call it a Buell.

While it certainly isn't any kind of race bike, I'd race one!! Racers race!!!

Would an XR1200 be my first choice; no. But I'd race it. From Buells to Tri-cycles to barstools to lawn mowers and even harleys!!!! Doesn't matter. Racing is fun (even on an overweight pig such as the XR1200)!!!!

Agree with that.

If had it buy a H-D, it would be the XR. Only if I had no other brand choice because there are so many other better bikes. Even a five year old standard is better.

Imagine the scaled down versions of the 1125; a 250, 500, 750. The prospect of $5.00 a gallon gas makes this an interesting idea.

Also, once again a H-D that isn't competitive without twisting the rules to favor them. Why don't they just race it against other aircooled bikes, if any are racing and find out how bad it really is. It will only be competitive in a class of its own.

You are missing the point entirely. The whole point of a 'One Make Series' is that it is purely for one make and model of bike. There have been race series for SV650, CB500, Suzuki Bandits, Duc Monsters, Yamaha R1 & R6, Duc 848 etc etc etc and it really doesn't matter how much or how little power you have because everyone has the same.
This H-D XR1200 series has been hugely successful in Spain, Italy, UK and now the USA. Like it or not it has done a massively good job of marketing H-D to the general motorcycling public who would not normally consider buying anything from Harley.

If you speak to any of the riders in this series (in all the participating countries)they will tell you it is huge fun and a relatively cheap way to go racing alongside some established big names, simply because everyone is equal so racing is close. Speed and power are pretty irrelevant in one make racing : )

My friend Chase McFarland (formerly a Buell privateer) was picked-up by Latus HD for this series. His Dad tells me the contingency money is VERY good particularly in the current race climate. One of the only things Harley has done right in a while. -Tutt

I get the point of racing a one-make bike. I'm also aware of single-bike type race series. BMW and others have done it successfully. I'm not knocking the race series, I'm knocking on the bike itself.

Like I said, it would be THE ONLY H-D I would buy if I had no choice.

Prospect? It's $4.80 a gallon here in Ontario as it is... predicting a good possibility of a $5.25 gallon in the summer from what I hear.

The idea that someone is sickened ('i want to vomit') by people having a good time racing is dumb.

Yes, people hate harley blah blah blah GET OVER IT

These guys are out racing and having a great time doing it
So what if a moto mag comparison it did bad
So what if its not as fast as the other classes
SO WHAT

Yall need to get out and ride, quit all the hating and have some fun

I've liked Roland's stuff for a while - he "gets it". The Bott is a good looking machine too. I'm not a H-D hater (more just really disappointed in H-D management). Still, if Bott can drop 175 lb off the XR, then why can't H-D drop just half that?

I'll ride or race anything - wheelchairs at some point...

>>> SO WHAT

Uhm, so because Harley fettered and then killed Buell, an actual sport bike company racing and winning against all comers, so we hear of a Harley executive belittling Erik concerning his "little racing hobby" but now Harley is pretending to have a road racing bike? So what?

Get a #@$%ing clue. : |

Well they do have to finish the race still. ; )

Honestly though I am in support of anything that gets fans in the seats and helps promote our sport. I just prefer if the fans had less mullets. ; )

But I stand by my statement that he's being silly by the fact that he hates HD products cause of the decision of a few HD execs
Hating on people racing them cause of what a few execs at the company of the bike they are racing
Hate
Hate
Hate
So negative

Stop putting words in my mouth. You are way out of line. I said exactly what I mean. For Harley to have virtually sabotaged Buell then killed them and now to make believe that they have a sport bike and are all supportive of racing it is just too much hypocrisy for me.

We don't have moderators here. We have custodians.

I don't hate. Distaste is probably a better characterization for my attitude towards the corporate leadership and the miserable rats at HDMC who made it their mission to sabotage BMC.

I am a racing fan and any spec racing series is usually great racing. I loved watching the 883 sportster series of the past and it bred some very good riders like the Bostrom brothers. I also loved watching some of the riders trying to race those sportsters with clipon bars. Down hill hairpins were great. Brake...tank slapper..tank slapper...faceplant. Yes the HD execs were dickheads when it comes to the end of Buell but I would gladly watch a xr1200 race because the few pics I've seen it looks like very good racing.
