Were any 1125CR models built with the upgraded three bearing rear wheel? If so, is there a way to tell without removing the wheel from the bike? Or could it be determined through the VIN?

Yes, all 2010 XB/1125 models had the new wheel. It is compatible with the older bikes if you get the correct new axle to go with the 2010 wheel.

And at-a-glance, the new axle is black powdercoat instead of natural aluminum.

Rat - I got one at home and me thinks anodized. - I'll double check if the thread lasts that long.

Is a new wheel required, or can I just buy the three bearing axle kit and be good to go?

Edit: Nevermind. Answered my own question.

Nuts4mc, you can have 2 bearing wheel with black seals. In fact, most of the 09s came from the factory with black seals.

So, this is a plug and play kit? I can upgrade my 09 CR rear wheel with this kit?

Yes - 2010 3-brng rear wheel is compatible with XB/1125, 2003+.
The kit consists of the wheel, 3 bearings, spacer and dust caps. Axle is different for 1125 and XB.

The Black-anodized axles can be used on 2 bearing wheels also, the old silver axles have been discontinued.

How much is the kit+wheel? I only saw the kit at Erik Buell Racing which is ~$80 if you already have the wheel.

I'd like a part # on the wheel, if possible. I assume it's offered in a variety of colors.

I think the wheel is around $300. That's what's holding me back. And then I'd have to get a front wheel to match the color of the rear.

$285 retail for a wheel before any Badweb discounts, plus you will need the bearings and axle kit and installation. All together going to run you about $350. The wheel is (or was) available in every color previously offered on a XB/1125.

Available in Black - http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/17901.html

You can try getting it in another color from your dealer, or have it powdercoated to match
