While zooming in, is that a XB9R on the right?

The picture itself gets more pixelated as you zoom in, but I am sure the non-mass centralized part of the exhaust system can be easily removed.

Also, looks like they still have the track body work on it (I didn't see anything holes for the headlights), or they are still molding the bodywork (because there seems to not be any holes for the new radiators/oil cooler).

Test mule.
I'm sure the final product will look quite different.
I'm wondering if that dinky muffler will be a way around the EPA.
Equip the bike with a race exhaust and add on an easy-to-remove extra muffler to pass noise restriction. When the customer gets the bike it may only be the matter of a few bolts to remove the muffler and ride in style.

At any rate I'm sure that even if there is an side mounted muffler it will look way better than that. These bikes are going to be big $$$$ so they have to not only perform but look amazing too. Do you think anyone would pay $30K+ for a bike if it had a muffler hanging on the side that looks like if was bought at a Pep boys?

Again Test Mule... for all we know that muffler is just a decoy to keep us from knowing what the real exhaust will look like.
Just like the race body work, they want to keep the final version a secret until it's released. All companies do that.

Why on earth would they do that? : )

I suspect that most customers of this bike will be racing it. The stock muffler (whatever it is) would likely be binned immediately anyway.
