For those of you still undecided - I have the first 1125R taillight Robert made. Integrated run/turn/stop with clear lens, aka Option 6. It's almost 3 years old and good as the day I got it. Robert's workmanship is unparalleled for the price and I am happy to promote his work. I will also chime in from personal experience with the product. I have had mine not quite as long as Zac's, but it hasn't missed a beat. you can just tell when you get it in your hands it's well made and should last indefinitely. I will say I have to the "2-strip" running lights and it looks very trick at night and low light conditions, but I feel it's not quite noticeable enough in daylight conditions. HOwever, I might over the top on wanting to be seen on the road. My belief is we have two main dangers from the cagers--one is the left turn in front of us and the other is getting crunched from behind while stopped. My suggestion for those who have similar fears is go with the full running light and don't integrate the turn signals. YMMV. | ||

I placed an order for two of the lights with a full board being on, not just the two strips. I have seen the strip model before in person, it is nice and bright, but like Fresno says, you can't be too safe. I can't wait for mine  | ||

Its surprising how much sunlight washes out the 2-strips. I remember when I first got the XBlight, my riding buddy commented he had a hard time seeing the running light. Even tho it was bright summer or spring sunlight, that comment bothered me. | ||

My custom XBLIGHTS light - did a short video after work tonight to show you how bright and far these lights shine - look at the reflections off the brick building in the background. Running light is 1, yes 1, row of LEDs, thats it. Brake is full board. I have this design on both bikes.   | ||

Taken from my sponsor section on the board... Hello, I just received notice that my current lens maker / molder is changing directions with his business. He will no longer be providing CLEAR or LIGHT SMOKED lenses. What I have in my inventory is it. Very short supply of LIGHT SMOKED lenses and a short supply of CLEAR lenses. I have an endless supply of RED lenses though. I'll continue my search for another supplier but its looking slim. I really hate to turn to Clear Alternatives as it has there name stamped into the lens versus my lenses which had XB Lights stamped in them. Fresno, I'm curious if you have ever seen the XB Lights unit next to a stock or a different aftermarket light in the daylight or at night? Robert-- No I have not done a direct comparison. And for everyone that might read this, I want to stress this is only one person's opinion only, so take it for what it's worth. As far as the 2-strip running light, I made my conclusions based on input from my riding buddies as well as just looking for myself from the rear. It appears to me the convex shape of the lens somewhat nullifies the outside row of lights on both strips when looking directly from the rear of the bike. LEDs are more directional and viewing angles play a bigger role versus the stock incandescent bulb. So the 2-strip running light might very well be brighter in light output, but the light visible directly from the rear seems hampered. The horizontal row running light would help avoid this issue. And again, most people would probably say the 2-strip running light is perfectly acceptable. It's all preference. Keep in mind I wear a high viz yellow jacket and run HID lights so being as noticeable as possible is at the top of my list. | ||

I like the idea and am glad the option is out there but I'm having a little trouble justifying the price to myself. Is it just because this is a near-captive market? | ||

I don't know what the current pricing is on a XBlight, but it was over $200 when I bought mine quite some time ago (Buell was alive and well.) Aside from the high quality LEDS and custom work which justify the price tag, it's free enterprise and your question is pretty rude IMHO. | ||

Take offense if you need to man. I would hope you have something better to do. How the hell is asking a sales person what the value of their product is rude? I'm looking for a sales pitch or something to tell me these are worth it. | ||

When I first looked at the light Robert sent me I was awed. I have a pretty long electronics background and the build quality was some of the best I've seen. Including high-end stuff in comms and audio. You get more than you pay for with anything from Robert. I agree with Harlan, it's rude with the negative implication of a "captive market". Definitely not a "bent over a table" situation. Z | ||

Zack, I am not a rude person, I am simply not getting it here. $200+ is a lot of money. Looking at the website, I'm not seeing the justification for the price. Typically, I do the LEDs for my bikes myself so I am familiar with cost and construction. I also never suggested that anyone was bent over a table. However, the market determines price and if there isn't any competition, prices will be higher. That isn't a negative aspersion or an attack on anyone's character, look at Keda for an example of what I am talking about: he produces a fine quality product but because he is never going to sell them at a volume high enough to cut his costs they are going to be more expensive than those of builders who have a broader market. Now, relax and let the man tell me why this is worth my money. Sometimes I feel like people here get so goddam defensive needlessly. I'll gladly spend what little money I have to support those who stand by Buell. If it helps you feel better, I have spent a total of $22 on stuff for my CR that wasn't sold by a sponsor, that is $11 for a cramp buster and another $11 for rattle can paint. Everything else has been through someone who is willing to stand by us. Is that enough or do I have to justify my question further? | ||

If you are looking for a sales pitch, then maybe "What makes your light superior to XXXXXX?" would have been the appropriate question? I am no self-professed LED expert, but these LEDs seem to be at a different level than what you find typically on other bikes. And from talking to Robert, I don't think it's a slam dunk to manufacture these. I know it was a process just to go from the 2-strip running light to the full board running light. | ||

Thanks Fresno for emailing me the link! I'm very sorry I didnt check the thread! I've been too busy building the lights from the Black Friday Sale :-) I think the best way to answer your question is to give you all the options I know of.... (not in any particular order) #1 www.xblights.com (hundreds of happy customers and bright..$205 to $245, with or without integrated signals) #2 Heavy Cylcles light (Most expensive, but I have heard nothing but PRAISE for them, Sold at American Sport Bike for $345 with integrated signals only) #3 Clear Alternatives ($60 to $90) I would NOT recommend these crappy alternatives light to anyone!! Just JUNK!! Available with or without integrated signals. I have had a good amount of people order a Crappy Alternatives light, install it and order mine the next day. #4 2010 Buell factory LED light ($60 and its not a bad light, assuming you like the clear lens and NO integrated signals. Brighter then the Crappy Alternatives!) #5 Ecliptech (SRW Moto) ($120 and honestly, I have not heard any feedback on these lights. I do not think they have integrated signals. only issue I see with these is the low amperage ratings, which might lead to low output? But ive never seen one in person to know.) #6 last option I can think of is the drop-in LED cluster. $10-$25. These are a joke!! I have yet to see one that looked brighter then the stock filament bulb!! And whatever you do, please DO NOT buy the clear lens with the red filament bulb! That has to be the worst setup I have EVER seen! The red bulb puts out hardly any light! MUCH less then a stock bulb! Please do not go with that setup just for the safety reasons!!! These are the other options out there I can think of, there might be more.. Our lights are a little on the higher side due to the time and circuitry it takes to hand build them.
