Here's a link to the fastest lap times and speeds for the fastest competitors at the 2010 IOMTT and looking at the results there were no 1125's competing or even any ducati's and looking at the results all the fastest bikes were JAP inline 4 cylinders.

Note there was a ktm and a ducati that had slow lap times and speeds when compared to the 1000cc 4 clinders.

The IOMTT is the closest and best match for all out street road racing that most sport bike riders can relate to.

This is simple. To be at the top you need a well-funded team and rider. Only a few of those to go around and the Ducati and twins in general honestly don't have the top end of the inline-4s to conquer the IOM. Only back in the Joey Dunlop glory days when he was on a factory-sponsored RC-51 did twins win. Then when the focus shifted back to inline-4s only the Duc was a competitive twin, but it never has had a factory effort at IOM.

The 1190RR could do well, but not be in the hunt for a trophy. Finishing is a simple matter of reliability, which I'm sure the 1125RR has proven already.

I think the super bikes hit 190?? at the fastest section, not sure what the 1190 hits top end?
Notice the distinct lack of American riders. One of the top guys is either from the Isle or lives there now??

In this year's IOM Superstock Race (1,000cc near-production bikes) the BMW was clocked at 189mph. The Superbikes are a few miles an hour faster than that.

A lot of the top IOM racers are locals, Connor Cummins, Milky Quayle, John McGuiness. A lot also come from the Irish Road Racing (closed-course public roads) series, where they race the North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix, etc., such as Ryan Farquhar, Michael Dunlop, etc.

2.5 people die a year on that course too. Isle of man is something else, you will never see Valentino Rossi or any of the course racing greats out there, because it is a true road course.

I thought Rossi did a "guest appearance ride" not to long ago there? I think it was a promotional thing only.

I dunno, I could be crazy, I didn't give it much attention when I saw it.

V.R. did a parade lap with some old famous road racer, can't remember the name. Putted around the course waving at the fans. There is no way any Professional rider under contract in WSB or Moto GP would be allowed to compete there. Actually no one sane would ever race that course.....but I sure do love watching them do it.

Yeah, he did it with Agostini, who said later they were running at "about half" speed.

No Sane rider rides there, which is why its the best racing. Theres been a lot of people saying end it, its a death race.

But noone is FORCED to race there. Good on the legends of the Isle of Man

The TT is REAL road racing. In my book flying at those speeds with rock walls and houses the only thing to stop you is nuts. BUT; it sure looks like fun..and, I don't doubt a BUELL / Erik Buell Racing with an experienced TT rider would kick butt!!!
