I'm happy to report in 4000 miles my 09 1125CR is running just fine : ) I've had the De-noid and the Cali-Can improvements performed.

I just changed my oil after my 1125 had been sitting in my garage the past 60 days. Too damn hot here in the Southwest desert for my tastes. Today I woke up and it was in the high 80's so I jumped on and put on a quick 85 miles.

I am very happy with the bike. Is it perfect, No but I have not had one motorcycle in my life that was.

The 1125 ran great today in temps around 100. Did it get hot, Yes. Did it run great ? Yes .....This bike always makes me grin as triple digits on the speedo come with ease. I sneeze and it turns. It started fine even when really hot.

When I got home I always pop the gas cap to help with the pent up fumes and lessen the burden on the evap can. Man did the gases poor out of the cap area !

The cap danced for a good 6 seconds and I could see the fumes. The fuel in frame is a test in the desert for sure. Problem NO just part of the design.

So in closing This 1125 is just fine, Im a Happy owner. The rear tire has plenty of tread too. ( Your mileage may vary )

Same here.

Problems will occur, and I'll deal with them. This is a specialty, limited production bike. Not enough of them were produced for long enough, to work out all the problems. I'd be surprised if there weren't any problems!

I have the extended warrantee, and also the H.O.G. coverage. If/when my 1125R breaks down, they'll come out and pick the bike and me up. If I'm far away from home, they pay for a hotel room, if necessary, and also replacement transportation. If the bike is laid-up, waiting for parts, I have my H-D cruiser(a Dyna), which is, by far, the most reliable and dependable bike I've ever owned.

Mine is a very satisfactory situation.

Me three (or four, or five...). 09 CR, all I've done is remove the passenger pegs and brackets, shorten the vent tube because of it, add heated grips to the stock clubmans, add heated clothing pigtail and tender pigtail, put on a '10 taillight because I like the LEDs, and snagged one of the last Buell touring seats for it. And installed a cradle for my Garmin Quest II. Dealer did the stator update around 500 miles for me, no issues at all.

And I've piled on some miles.

That damned bike is FUN : )

No driveability, charging, gas smelling, gas boiling, lack of power or expensive noise problems here with over 7500 miles, two normal services and a change of tires later. But then I've kept it stock except install Convertibars for increased comfort, a louder horn for better presence in traffic, a Ventura rack system for trips and wire up a power outlet for convenience and an electric vest thermostat just because. Also did a neat mod by installing TT number plates to replace the passenger pegs & brackets.

Sprung for the Extended Warranty and Service Agreement so that the dealer will pick up, do the work and deliver the bike for the first 6 services at no extra cost. Pretty cool bike, I think. Well worth the original buy-in cost.

Count me as completely satisfied.

I'm very happy also, 3500 miles this season on a 09 R
Bought it for last Christmas. Did the De-noid, removed passenger pegs, made under tail kit, ran it for a while with the inner air box cover off but put it back on.
No issues from her, no matter how fast I'm going or what gear I'm in, when I twist the throttle....... she says - alright you better hold the F@#$ on.......
Love it.....

09 cr Black
I'm happy too. the only problem with mine has been my brother wrecking it and throwing it into a ravine. But it gave me an excuse to tear into it and fix it up.

I had the charging harness and clutch fix done at 1600 miles, put on the high bars. I have 1800 miles on it now. I'm waiting on a kickstand spring to come in as mine snapped.
But this bike is so fun, and its an insane upgrade from my first bike, a sportster 883.

I can't say Loretta has been trouble free.
Buell/H-D have taken care of any issue tho, in short order, and downtime has been minimal, mostly my own doing.

I will say, my very early 08 1125R affects like no machine ever has.
My wife says it's unhealthy, but smiles and waves as I ride off.

No problems with my 08 1125r...well, let me rephrase that... no problems that have left me at all dissatisfied.

Things break, things break in, things get better. I learned a long time ago that it doesn't matter what company makes X, A-Z can still break or fail. I know some owners have had a rough time but I think some of the "rough time" is maturity and patience as well.

***Disclaimer... if the shoe fits, wear it. I understand some owners have had a really terrible experience.***

On the other hand, my 1125r has been an absolute joy to own and ride. On the street or the track it has proven to be a finely crafted and exceptionally well made motorcycle. In fact, both of my Buells have. Part of that may be because I keep them well maintained and I certainly don't threaten to file a law suit over a burnt out tail light.

To each their own. I have been blessed to have great bikes that have had their own different quirks. Just as I have had cars, trucks, tracked vehicles, up-armored vehicles and even an experimental aircraft that I had the opportunity to work on and learn to fly in.

***Disclaimed, the "El Tigre" engine in the aircraft did explode on us and forced us into a "Forced Emergency Landing" which ironically enough was the flight lesson for the day. Remind me to tell you about it sometime.***

At the end of the day, I really enjoy being a Buell owner and I am blessed to have been able to be a part of the community that truly makes these motorcycles amazing.

Court, OurDee, Dean, Ozzie, Bob... and Buell. Thanks!

My 09 R hasn't been 100% trouble free, but it's literally just the sidestand spring falling off that mars a perfect record to date. OK so I only have 1800 miles on her but they've been pretty hard miles.

Some minor mods, pretty much the usual suspects - pipe (Barker), Erik Buell Racing ECM, 6800k headlights. I have fitted a couple of new seats (more comfortable), crash bungs (that I hope never to use), refitted the OEM fairing panels and added extra heatproofing to the RHS. Other than a couple of very minor cosmetic changes I have been too busy enjoying this amazing bike to mess with it.

The rear tire was dead at about 1400 miles, which feels about right.

This is without a doubt the best handling bike I have ever owned, even two up (although it's really hard to keep the front wheel down with a pillion on board) - just requires a bit more "consideration" LOL

I have everything to need to do a flat bar conversion - but I am really enjoying the bike in standard configuration so may never get around to that..

here in austria the same (no problems) : )!!
I just rode nearly 3500km´s and there are no problems @all!

I´m so happy with this bike - everyone in streets is watching you cause you have a sports bike that doesn´t look that japanese stuff ; ) - people are talking to you and that´s just fine in my opinion...

I got a 08 R, and all recalls has been done by my dealer (mechanic rides buells since nearly 10 years on track - so fine!)..

Greetings from
Austria : )

08R: 9500 miles. Bought new in Feb 09. 3rd Buell I have owned.

Mods:
Denoid
Erik Buell Racing pump gas ecm
2010 LED tail light
Jardine tail
no other mods...yet.

Clutch weep (repaired) and IC replaced due to parasitic draw. No other issues.

This is the best bike I have ever owned. I researched this bike for a long time before I bought it, so I knew what i was getting into.

I've had a ton of minor problems, but those were all early '08 issues. Both my 08 bikes and 09 bikes have been pretty stable lately.

Remarkable for the '08 that's a race bike. I beat the living piss out of it and it's got 40k on it!

IC cluster changed under warranty due to fogging and the CEL/LFL problem.
Harness mod done, just keeping an eye on the stator and the clutch slave cyl.

I'm at 2,500 miles now ... My '09R has been amazing and as reliable as dial tone. Of those 2,500 miles I would guess approximately 150 or so were spent taking it easy.

About 5000 (drag, track, hard road) miles, salvage title hence zero dealership support and NO problems since day one. This next note is important: This bike has had ZERO updates or re-call items done. In fact until this summer I was riding on the absolute original (Nov '07) flash! No re-routing anything, nothing replaced, nadda. No clutch leak, no stator problems, no boiling gas, no electrical gremlins... nothing.

I've done all my own maintenance; installed a HPE race exhaust, E-B-R Race ecm (personally tweaked for a tad more fuel), K&N with custom open airbox (a la highscore's thread). Honestly, in contrast to another certain individuals nightmare thread; both Buell's I've owned have been the MOST trouble FREE bikes I've had.. and I've had a few

Have an early 08 (#298). Had a bad harness within first 500 miles (intermittent short on one of the ECM paths - made for some interesting 'issues'): replaced under warranty. No problems at all since, with about 5000 track/road miles to date. I do all my own work since there's hasn't been dealer support within easy reach for over a year - fortunately I haven't needed it (no clutch weep, no stator problems - knock on wood).

Mods are relatively minor: Pump Gas ECM, EB pipes/can (gawd they sound good!), crash protection gizmos. Bike is tracked maybe 500 or so miles each year and the rest is mostly mountain roads, so I don't baby it too much until we get home. I've had race suspension parts sitting on the bench for 6 months and still haven't decided whether I really need them. (and no, I'm not ready to sell them) I've been happy with the bike and have no complaints. Maybe mine was built on a Wednesday.

I didn't have any issues for 2800 miles : )

I was thinking a couple of weeks ago when my bike started to have issues with the stator. Ok, what happens if I keep having issues with the stator? Would I sell the bike? And then buy what? So, I looked around and for V-twins with over 140HP and under 500lbs curb weight. I personally don't like full fairing bikes, so my options were almost nil!! AND the few options were extremely expensive! So, what if I have an issue of two? I can bitch about it, but at the end of the day, I don't think there is another bike I can be as happy as with my CR : )

4000 miles.
A real rude and aggressive pavement scorcher.
I broke the mirror with my thumb trying to get it to cant outboard a little more.
Glad There hasn’t been any big problems because I don’t trust anyone in the area to work on it.

Financially – this bike has sent me into a riding recession. By my estimates, I lost $8K the moment I rode out of the Harley dealer’s parking lot. Talk about being lopsided on a loan. I guess eventually the bike may have some value as a museum piece. I feel all the more poorer. I don’t mind spending money if I’m having fun. But to give that money to Harley, and a year later they drop the line. I have to ask myself why I was one of the suckers who bought at list price.

I had always said when there is a competitive American sportbike, I would buy it.
If I had it to do over, I would put the $8K toward…a v twin made by an established company with lots of aftermarket parts support.
