Another pain: Waiting weeks for a stator then waiting additional weeks for the dealer to actually put it on the bike.

Aussie2126 - ++

The slow moving HD design world is still using push-rods. The V-Rod is a Porsche design, has proven itself and is quietly working it's way into the hearts and minds of traditional HD owners.

The 1125 is made by the Canadian-Austrian firm Bombardier-Rotax. The future of B-R is on the line here too. Would you buy from a company that produced a troublesome product and didn't resolve it's design shortcomings?

--pissed off?--mad as hell?--
I know how you feel. I was one Jonesing SOB when this happened to me with the S1 13 years ago. The MC adrenaline gets started and you begin to look forward to your next ride/fix, another adrenaline junkie going through the pain of withdrawal.

*wretches* Ugh...don't remind me.

HD is flying in a Buell tech today and he is going to look at the bike to see what cam be done. I've already started gathering the data I need from the first dealership this bike sat dormant at...intake dates and release dates. At this point, I'm not even sure I want to give them a second, third, fourth, fifth...I've lost count actually.

Laughably, the tech that flew in said he had some contacts at the factory, and they are going to take one directly off the production line and fly it overnight and the bike will be completely done by Saturday. Of course, I will believe it when I see it. What immediately came to mind is why didn't he just grab one before he flew in?? The first shop that worked on my CR said the ROs and intake paperwork should be ready to pick up by tomorrow...para bellum.

Hey the Buell Tech they flew into Brian's HD took my bike out for a 25 mile ride, then proceded to call me and tell me to come get my bike and take riding lessons.

So I go in to get my bike and have the service manager tell me the bike wasn't safe to ride that the clutch had failed and was practically dry... That none of the service lights had been addressed even though they were on. And he wasn't even sure that my bike had been ridden. We found out that it had exactly 25 miles racked onto the odometer from what I had dropped it off with.

Sorry to tell you I know longer have confidence in Flown in Techs.

Honestly, I lack faith as well. This is the second time a Buell tech has looked at one of my bikes. We'll see if the techs are two for two when it comes to completely misdiagnosing the problems.

Blake "A troll"? I dont know the posters past history. I do know you above all people you do not allow people to throw that term "troll" around loosely. I also think that problems with buell are always blamed on HD. I own both and I know HD is the name on one tank and Buell is the name on the other. My point is I respect Erik but I dont blame Hd For the bane of Buell problems. I was just surprised to see you throw "troll" out there like that. All respect not challenging you what so ever.

Blake - easy; HD contracts parts from producers that have production lines.

Dono - What makes you think the rep is coming from the same place as the parts?

Guess where most part's are made?

Maybe you could have asked what he meant by the production line instead of becoming offensive.

Picture of the most popular motorcycle of all time...It has been in continuous production since 1958... It is also slow, small, underpowered, is ancient tech, and cheap. It is as durable and reliable as a concrete block, parts are abundant and cheap. Entire bikes can be built with aftermarket parts. ALL the bugs have been worked out years ago.

My Buell is rough around the edges, raw and completely unrefined....that is how bikes should be....the price to join the party is high...relish the fact that there is a party still left to join.

I'm still confused as to why some people let their bikes be offthe road waiting on warranty parts when those parts are available elsewhere.. Erik Buell Racing for example or eBay or some of the sponsors on here.

I know it means paying for the parts, but if it's a question of missing out on a season's riding for a couple of hundered bucks - which you could recoup most of when your back-order parts come in (via eBay).

My dealer's used to me ordering warranty parts and just handing over the box when it's in - knowing full well I'll have sourced the part elsewhere to minimise downtime.

I bought the Buell knowing full well that it was somewhat "exotic" and that it would quite possibly not be as reliable as a UJM. I have a spare bike for when it's raining or the Buell's not 100%.

I just find it hard to understand why anyone would have their bikes off the road when it's avoidable.

Everybody knew parts and HD support would be minimal after the Buell closing but purchased the 1125r anyway. The way I look at it is that I got such a great deal on my 1125 that I can justify buying any part I need. Even a motor. That being said, both of my Buells have been rock solid reliable. I ride them everywhere.

HD barely supported Buell before the closure. Did you really believe that they would do a better job after the closure?

Some of us bought the bikes before they closed shop.

We should have know that HD would not be supplying parts for our warrantied bikes as well?

I knew that post would be contentious when I read it.. I doubt anyone who bought pre-firesale could have known and I can understand the frustration.

I still can't get my head around the people who are sitting back waiting for HD to come through for them when they can do something to get the bikes back on the road sooner..

Not only a troll, but an arrogant jackass who then goes on to assert that Erik Buell is an incompetent motorcycle designer.

I wonder what engineers think when a parking lot they designed floods after a light rain, or a bridge collapses, or a tower leans precariously to one side. "Cost someone a chunk O' change, but hey, no one's perfect". I don't think so.

The stator's seem to be an issue, if for some reason I could come across one that was burned out already, I think I would have it rewound through a different company. I know when I lived in Florida the local bike shop had a place to send them out to and I want to say for around $160.00, so it may be a good back up. Check your local independent shops and I bet you find someone that may be able to help you out....hopefully it will not go on to void any remaining warranty, HD does love to do that.....

well after a fire sale you had to expect a lot more frustrated folks (trolls)

its not just buell supporters/fans who own them now.

kinda the curse that goes with selling more bikes then normal
