Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement battery? Mine has been barely starting my bike for the last week. The battery light comes on at start up and shutdown and stays on for a while. Today the light came on while I was riding and stayed on for a few seconds. I am not spending $399 for the Erik Buell Racing battery that is designed for weight savings in lieu of CCA’s. I want something that will always start my bike and last long as long as possible. On a side note, can you push start this bike? I am guessing that the slipper clutch may pose a problem with that.

Push starting doesn't work well.
If you don't have enough juice to start, the IC/ECM won't work well either.
Getting the fuel rail to the proper pressure is an issue too.
Slipper won't have any effect on this tho.

Lead acid batteries(this size) do NOT like to be deep-cycled, ie going flat.
If you keep a tender on it, like the HD/Deltran Tender Junior ($20-40), your battery will last a long time.

Ni-Cd and Ni-MH cells are good at deep cycling, have lots of CCAs and are light.
They don't last as long as a well maintained lead-acid tho.

The Erik Buell Racing battery is a smart Li-Ion Polymer I believe. They are cutting edge and pricey.

Even with a good charge bump starting is a pain. I haven't been able to master it for the 1125 yet for my hypermiling.

Thanks for the info. I'm off to try. I keep putting the bike in park when I only mean to lock the steering head.
