I found a dealer with a bunch left. Not asking very much because of the fire sale, 6K. What is the normal delivery and setup fee. They want 500 for it. that seems a little excessive to me. anyone know what it is supposed to be?????

Shopped around and bought mine from McHenry HD for $5995 and fees. $6500 out the door.
Having been in sales for a long time when buying anything compare bottom line. They can break it down any way they want, question is what's the bottom line, or "out the door price" OTD man. Good luck. Seems like the going price to me.

sounds like a lot of 'bend over' fees in there. They take it out of the crate and give it to you. Don't be fooled by 'prep'.

$50 should be the only fee you pay...some lame doc fee. $500 is sucker cash.

It's all ambiguous now. Counter offer to that since they have a bunch. The fees seem high but ultimately if you want it you don't have too many options now.

Well, if you ask me and those like me who paid 08, 09 prices, $500 bucks isn't all that bad when you consider that your picking up a $12000.00 bike for half. I still feel that I got a pretty good deal om my R but would have love to have been able to get it at today's prices. Lucky dogs! lol

it is mchenry. but the last new bike i bought was 200 prep plus 100 for "paper" work. 400 for prep seemed like a lot. Also, not to many other places have them. Well, we will see what the insurance rates will be?!?!?!? out the door was 6500, but that was not TTL. The Minnesota dealers had them for 6700 otd TTL last fall, could not make up my mind. well now need the wife onboard and need to get different bike out of the garage!

I ended up getting a used bike. The dealer wanted to tack on $750 in fees... Prep, doc, and trans.

Iconverted - those are some game-playing bastards if they said $6500 OTD, but not TTL. When someone says "Out the Door (OTD)" then that includes any and all dealer fees, taxes and required government fees (tag, title, state road use taxes, etc.). I hate the sales game at H-D, or basically any car dealership. I usually walk away before they start the "Tru-Coat" scam...

JNG1226 I agree. out the door should be out the door and not go to a DMV for a year!!!! Well the insurance was way worse than i ever feared. 600 per year for full. I pay half that for 99 X1 and (i know a ricer) 07 sv650s. ill keep my eyes open and enjoy my x1.

Sales tax and license fees are not charged in many states by the dealership. Some charge sales tax along with other fees at the time of sale. I called McHenry and was quoted $6,500 out the door price. Being out of state, I pay sales tax and lic fees at my county courthouse.

I paid $7,000 out the door at my Missouri dealership and it included the first service. I then paid the other fees mentioned.

Always compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges.

$600 for full insurance is actually not that bad at all. I pay much more than that for my 2009 1125R in Florida. Then again my driving record probably doesn't help, even at 38 years old.

Porky - Good point. I didn't consider out-of-state sales if the dealer was quoting OTD. I meant if he was physically in the dealership and they were trying to separate TTL (in-state) from the OTD quote.

I am looking at total price to own the bike(apples to apples). See earlier post. Out the door with ttl for 300 to 400 less in minnesota last fall. I know, less available now, not the same state, but money is money. Like I said. I love my x1 so.............. I guess I'll have to wait for now until they are sick of having about 20 left.

also, don't get me wrong. Mchenry HD dealer has been nothing but nice to me. I have been emailing them for the prices also. I not ripping on them by any sense. The final numbers were more than I can afford and was making sure that that there set up fees were in line with what is out there right now. It would be a sweet ride if...................

"start rant"
Sad, giving the bikes away at close to half and folks a are challenging a little capitalism $$$$ (bad word).

McHenry found these bikes that others wouldn't take a chance on and shipped them in on their dime and are trying to make a buck. Is that bad?

Their about half price what else do you want?

Price is subjective to the fact that they are selling them nationwide. Tax and registration vary from state to state, so not exactly $6500, but cost and fees=$6500 plus whatever your tax and registration.

This is still America and those prices may go up, once supply goes down, which is coming, their selling them, I bought one.

Chris was great to deal with and my bike was setup nicely, all upgrades and latest flashes and harness taken care of, it runs great out of the box. B*tch, buy or bargain your right here in the USA, for now.

Good luck.
