Any updates on the stalling issue when pulling in the clutch when decelerating? Mine has been better lately but it happened again on sunday when turning off the highway onto a secondary road. I let the clutch out after downshifting midway through my turn (going slow, a few loose gravel). Rear wheel locked up (engine stalled), I went straight & staid upright (MSF course or dumb luck), missing a tree on the berm. My daughter following me wasn't so lucky - she ended up low siding in the gravel trying to avoid me. She said, "Next time I'll just hit you!" I've always noticed when it stalled before, but not this time. There's enough to worry about out there without adding this to the mix. I'm spooked now, gotta get this fixed, the problem is finding a dealer that knows anything. I'm on my way tomorrow to AD Farrow Northstar in Columbus OH to have it checked out. Rumor has it they have a good Buell tech there, problem is its a 250 mile round trip.

Umm.. why were you downshifting midway through a turn? I thought the best method was to select the appropriate gear prior to entry and use that to accelerate through the bend..

I know that might sound like I'm having a go but that whole thing was avoidable..

I wasn't actually aware that there is a "stalling issue", I've never come across that before, what engine revs were you down too before you pulled the clutch?

mine stalled a few times when it was new in downshifting situations sometimes just when I pulled in the clutch but it went away after 1K miles or so so I can't really help you on that one

Yes there was a thread in regards to this stalling issue last fall, its in the archives. Mine has done it since new and I've always noticed it, just not this time. Danny, we're fine, just want to get this issue and her bike fixed as we have a father/daughter trip planned in 3 weeks. Jules, I had slowed to 5 mph coasting through the few loose gravels with my clutch in and was just letting it out turning through the intersection when the rear wheel locked up. Yeh, EVERYTHING in life is avoidable, but we're not all perfect all the time (at least I'm not, maybe you are) .

Mine stalled in a similar fashion multiple times when I first got it, it hasn't happened once since I installed my Erik Buell Racing ECM, so I don't know if that cured it or a few more miles did, but, I'm just sayin, could be a solution.

Glad you're both OK, a father / daughter trip, wow how cool is that, have a safe & great time.

Mine used to do it when it was new.... it's been a while since it's happened though.

I have found that it has been getting better as I put more miles on the bike. At one time it seemed like every time I down shifted it would stall. It still happens, but rarely. (1900 miles)

Mine did it a couple of times. Once turning slow from a sidestreet to merge with traffic and another time in a carpark doing a U-turn. Another time it stalled sitting in traffic just idling (so not clutch and no shifting). The bike was a bit over a month old.

I took it back to the dealer. They put in the latest flash, did a TPS reset and it hasn't done it since. Done 6000 km since then.

Mine has just started doing this at 3500 miles. It also won't idle well, constantly stalling. It is sitting at the dealer since Thursday. They admitted they won't touch it until Monday. Not like it's a big deal, it is only the HEIGHT of riding season in NJ.

Well, took it to A.D. Farrow H-D today and they do seem to know something about Buells! They put it on the computer and found that my local dealer did NOT do the flash update when they did the stator wiring harness recall. They took it for a test ride and the ECU threw 6 codes also. They found several loose electrical connections. Hopefully this will fix it. I must say it is much smoother running with the new flash. Will have to ride it awhile to see if it stalls anymore, but I think it may be fixed. Now working on the daughter's Blast, replacing a few broken and bent parts so we'll be ready for our trip next month to Vintage Motorcycle Days. We've gone almost every year since she was 12, with her riding on the back of my Harley. Momma gave her permission to ride her own bike this year for the first time (she's 22 and married now :-D ) but she still needed Momma's OK!

I just can't believe that your local dealer didn't connect it to the diagnostic Cme2c. Are they still working in the days of carbies and magneto ignition? At least they kicked the tyres to see if they were OK didn't they.

My 09 stalled or something last weekend on a staightaway going 30 mph. Rear tire locked up, started to highside, corrected, then lowsided. Skidded on by back for a bit. My riding buddy narrowly missed me, but scraped the my front faring and broke my RH mirror. Glad it was the bike and not me. Just before the lock-up, I noticed the readout said something about system battery condition. Has anyone noticed that read out prior to a rear wheel lock up. I'm unsure about riding this bike again until someone can tell me what happened and that it's fixable.
