Suggest including EBR Race ECM, the non-programmable one for pump gas.

Total combined sound level is likely less interesting to most than actual recordings. If recordings are good quality and are all performed equally, they will prove invaluable to consumers. I'd happily pay $3 for access to each file that interested me. : )

> If I have a pink noise generator set up on the drive line, and a DAW/mic set up at a known distance, how do I calibrate it all?

Have the pink noise generate a sound level measured with your sound meter, and make note of the SPL and resulting level in the DAW.

For example, if you set the gain so that 96db at the mic/meter is -24dbfs or so in the daw, I'm gonna go on record saying it's going to be pretty f'ing incredible if ANYTHING, including a jet airplane, causes a digital clip.

At -24dbfs on 24-bit inputs, you are still close to using a full 16-bits of resolution (if I did the math in my head right), putting quantization distortion some 90+dbfs, probably below the noise floor of your gear and the wind, for sure. So, "perfect" recordings result.

Where are you going to do these tests? Maybe I can come out and help. It's pretty easy if you have some audio recording experience, but of course, that's the rub.

I second Blake's idea for including a single run for each pipe with the EBR Race ECM for pump gas.

Dear Al
a - thank you for doing this for us! This is really awesome that youre doing this for the community and showing what each pipe does VS manufacturers claims.

b - I skimmed the thread and didnt see a date - when are you looking to have this done?

Taxes are completed and Im itching to purchase the EBR pump gas ECM and an exhaust, this would help me out a lot.

Again, thanks for all you do for us, appreciate it.

Haven't been to the thread in a bit...

The test will be occurring at JT&S performance, AT Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA, on May 17-19, right after the AMA roadrace event there on the 14-16. Terry and Jim's shop is up on the top of the hill to the left. Rumor has it that EBracing will be at the shop on those days as well, staging

I'll be there starting late Thursday, May 13. I'll be doing set up and planning/testing for the test over the weekend, getting the bunged pipes fitted to the test Mule and doing some prelim tests to make sure we hit the ground running first thing Monday morning. It will be a brutal test to get all that we want to do it just 2.5 days.

I'm trying to score a Buell Plug-n-play race ECM for the test. I think that is a good idea, we'll incorporate it if we can.

I would LOVE To have someone take ownership of the audio part of the process. One person was looking into it, but I don't have a commitment yet. I've got to start scoring the equipment to do it if there isn't someone that can step up to commit to take care of it all.

We WILL run it on the stock ECM, AFV set to 100. Then the plug-n-play race ECM. THEN the programmable ECM, where we'll flatten the AFR curve as best as possible in the alotted time.

Indeed it is. Most of the pieces are in place. I'm still waiting for a mic preamp to show up, but have the dB meter. Several pipes have arrived at JT&S, a few more are in transit. I have the Erik Buell Racing programmable ECM and have been familiarizing myself with the details of how it works. The tuning headers (bungs welded in for widebands on both cylinders) are getting picked up at the shop today.

I hope to do a test of the audio setup tomorrow if the preamp arrives today.

What wideband setup are you going to be using? I installed a pair of PLX Devices SM-AFR's with Bosch sensors in mine, I used the stock location for the sensors and it seems to be working fine now. I had an issue with power initally, but that has since been resolved. These have both wideband and narrowband ouputs, which might be useful in this type of testing.

They are the dual channel widebands built into the Land and Sea dyno. We'll mount up a set of tuning headers with some easily accessible bungs for both cylinders. For WOT tuning only, visual tuning from the dyno pull data will be pretty quick.

But I want to talk to you about your setup, as I'm looking at those for mounting on the XBRR for some track tuning.

We're at the track now, have been doing some other work and started prep on the test bike. FiremanJim (the J in JT&S performance) and David (the bike owner) fitted up the bunged pipes tody, we'll get all the pictures and weights recorded tomorrow.

What pipes will you be testing? Any chance you will be testing the Remus pipe?

Sorry to be late to the thread, but can somebody recap who the players are?

With hope, my pony runs strong... Many of you know I have an affinity for the Drummer...

Thanks!

These are the pipes we tested:

Stock
D&D
Jardine
FMF
Torquehammer
RT-1
RT-3
Drummer
Drummer chambered
Reinhart
Barker

There were several that were contacted that didn't send pipes:
HMF
HR1
FreeSpirits
Hawk
X1motowerks
HPE

It'll be 2 or three weeks before the test report is finished. I've got to learn the LandNSea dyno SW for plot standardization and overlaying, and crunch the data. It isn't like I'm sitting around doing nothing at American Sport Bike all day, running the shop still has highest priority.
