I am installing a new ic, as my old one was smashed in a wreck. i assume i should install the ic with the battery unplugged. After i install the new ic and plug the battery in the ic will start a 30 min timer. after the 30 min the ic is "meshed" to the bike and good to go, right?

Is there anything i missed, or any hints from people that have done this before?

You pretty much got it other than you need to turn the Ignition "on" before the count down begins. I did not disconnect the battery. Just made sure the Ignition was "off" and the Engine Run switch was "off". Disconnecting the battery is probably a good idea though.

Also suggest you have the battery hooked up to a charger during the count down. Other wise you will drain the battery.

When I got a new IC, I rode it for the 30 minutes.
IIRC, there was no display other than the timer until the 30 minutes passed, so flow with traffic.

I just changed mine. I rode for the 30 minutes. IC worked normally except for the odometer which appeared when the new cluster married to the ECM. The miles you ride during the 30 minute countdown are kept track of and added when the IC marries your ECM. Service odometer will not be correct.

thanks guys, i did the install today and it went great. It was a slight pain because of the connector being smashed up, but the ic is on and working!
