I HAVE A 2008 BUELL 1125R I'M LOOKING TO SWITCH INTO SOMEONE ELSE'S NAME( RE-FINANCE) NOT A SALE. I'M NOT GONNA MAKE A DIME, PROBABLY LOSE MONEY IN THE DEAL. DUE TO A LAYOFF AND SIGNIFICANT PAY CUT, PAYING FOR THE BIKE IS KEEPING ME FROM SAVING ANY MONEY THESE DAYS. I HAVE A 12000 LIEN, SO BUYER WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME THE LOAN, I KNOW ITS A LOT COMPARED TO THE RIDICULOUS SALES THEY ARE SELLING FOR. BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS. I GOT SCREWED! I LOVE THIS BIKE AND WOULD NOT PART WITH IT IN ANY OTHER CIRCUMSTANCE. I LIVE IN THE SOUTH LOUISIANA AREA. EMAIL ME WITH QUESTIONS AT jleblanc26@yahoo.com ALL UPDATES AND FLASHES ARE RECENT. NOID CABLE TO THE THROTTLE BODIES IS DISCONNECTED BUT LEFT AS IS, WILL RE-CONNECT UPON REQUEST. THANKS

Leave it running at your local Bar and go inside for a few hours. Should be gone when you come out...

OK OK, J/K

G/L with the sale. Sorry to hear about your hard times...

I'm about two hrs from you but paid cash for my 09 R.
Good luck with sale and if any of my friends hit the lottery,I'll send them your way.

You owe more than double what the bike is worth.

If you can't make up the cash difference, have you considered talking to the bank about returning the bike to them? (Voluntary repossession, I believe it's called?)

Seriously, no one is going to offer to assume your $12k loan for a $5k bike.

I'm aware of that, trust me. I'm trying to avoid the hit on my credit. What sucks is when I voluntary let them reposess, I'm still liable for the difference. I'm screwed no matter what. Trying to weigh options.

I hate hearing it for you, but I think you know that nobody is going to pay twice what the bike is worth just to help you out. Here's hoping the job situation improves ...

> I'm still liable for the difference.

No doubt, but talk to the bank. Sometimes they are just dickheads and insure they earn themselves a loss.

Sometimes, they are clever and inventive, and might let you take a personal loan for the balance and pay that off over the same period. It would lower your payment, and protect your credit, while satisfying your liability.

Can you sell it on Ebay or something like that to an overseas location? Maybe someone in Japan or Saudi is looking to pick one up.

Maybe people should be responsible and not buy what they can't afford. Just a thought.

I hope things work out for you Jleblanc26, sorry I don't have any sound advise.
You are certainly gonna have trouble selling for that price, even before the shut down and price drops.

For your information Fresno, I was working in egypt at the time of purchase and was making 90+ a year, I got screwed ,my company made some poor buismess choices, through no fault of my own I got laid off. I got the letter of recommendation and the check stubs to prove it. I can afford the bike now but not much else. It's dragging me down. Instead of enjoying now I'm paying just to keep my credit good. So there, that help you sleep better at night. There's a lot of people who say it's hard to find an 1125r, just checking. Hate to see it go back to Harley and auction and I'm stuck paying 6000 or higher for a bike I don't own.

Without any good moves, I guess do what you can to hold onto it. Letting go of it would make you lose out twice on the deal. No bike and a payment/money out of pocket on no bike. This economy is a real b!tch. Good luck man.

Thanks liquor. Just to be clear, I can afford the bike. I'm currently working and paying for it, but with a new family, a new car, and a reduced salary, it just isn't fun anymore.

Good to hear! I was going to suggest paying what you can. When I owned my F-150 I got in over my head with other things. I sent the bank what I could afford each month and they were nice enough not to repo. I paid something.

and yeah...Don't think anyone here would say anything along those lines if you hit hard times Fresno. That wasn't cool!

I'm certainly not trying to be an ass here, and it really sucks that you lost your job, congrats on getting another one in this tough economy, but I think what Fresno meant by not being able to afford the bike is why was it financed? I would take the stance that being able to afford something, especially a luxury item like a new motorcycle, is being able to write a check for it. I mean face it, if you haven't been able to save the cash, how the hell are you going to be comfortable making the payments? Financing a lifestyle is living beyond ones means. Finance your primary dwelling *maybe*, leverage investment opportunities if you know exactly what you are doing, completely understand all the risks, and can afford the possible loss, and pay for everything else. And for craps sake, if you don't have at *least* a years normal income in completely liquid assets you better stop spending and start saving.

I got zero money from my parents if that was what you were implying. I worked a 40 hour week while in college... its called motivation.

A 'toy' should not be financed.

So what I am gathering from all of you in here is that none of you hypocrites have financed anything, a second car, any of your bikes nothing at all? I currently have 1 bike financed not because I needed to but because I am helping my wife build her credit. The man fell on hard times due to the economy and all you can do is talk crap. This board has turned pretty much into a board full of self absorbed assholes.

RANT OVER

+1 to bishop, I'm sorry I couldn't put down 11000 on a new bike, and it's the only bike out of four I have financed. I currently own a Honda shadow VLX, and at the time, I sold my Suzuki RM125 to the salesman at the Harley dealership. Also not to mention the 2002 yamaha r1 which happened to be totaled from a dick head probably like you who pulled out in front of me. And last but not Least, the ninja 500 which I started riding on, all bikes paid in cash. Take the silver spoon out your mouth and shove it up your a$$.!!!!!! And just so you know not all these bikes was owned at the same time I always had just one bike until now and I didn't trade the Honda in because my dad rides it. Someone is always ready to bash without knowing a damm thing. I thought we was supposed to be a community of buell of lovers, well I guess not.
