This appears to be the last one in the state, I was hoping for a better deal but it's still pretty close to MSRP. The Alaska tax I guess. My only real issue is that it's an 09 and not a 10, seems that quite a few 2009 models had charging issues. I have lusted after this bike since it was introduced though, and don't want to let it slip by. The only other problem is that the moment I sign the papers it drops in value to 6k (4500 loss) according to KBB, and that is a hell of a hit to take on a new bike. What do the masses think?

Resolved by the stator harness upgrade. The 2010's use the exact same setup.

Do you buy bikes to ride or to collect dividends and interest? Resale value only matters if you intend on selling something, and if you intend on selling it, why are you buying it in the first place?

Buy it and don't look back : )

How much could you save by buying it on the mainland, shipping it home, and such.

I do buy them to ride, just looking out for the unforeseen. If I had to sell due to an emergency or loss of job or something else it's nice to not be upside down that bad. But I do get your point. As far as headed down south to get one I'm really not sure how much I can save, reports vary wildly from people who claim to have seen them for sale. I think I am going to purchase it, I love my Uly and this would look so right sitting beside it.

There are three listed in Washington state. May try there and work your way South. If you're on a shoestring a little extra work could pay off in savings. Honestly, if I didn't get it for the deal I did, I probably would have passed on mine.

A bike like this for $6K new? Depreciation concerns go out the window at that buy-in point. If you can find a better bang for the buck (with a two year warranty), more power to you!

Buy it. I rode a new Ninja that my neighbor bought yesterday. I appreciate the torque of my R much more now. Watching the dummy pull wheelies on a bike with 50 miles on it makes me think it will be a salvage soon anyways.

I payed 9K for my 09R in April 09 and I am still so happy with it I feel guilty when ever I ride it. So what if it's worth less, more, or the same at some later point. When you ride with any fast group and come out of a corner and constantly have to grab the brakes to keep from hitting whoever is in front of you, then you begin to realize what a special bike this really is.

Froggy is right, just buy it. You will not regret.

It really is like no other sport bike, it is so forgiving and easy to go fast on. (You must learn to be careful of this!)

Thanks for all the input guys, I negotiated a price I was much happier with and am signing the papers tomorrow. Just going to wait until the updated harness is installed before I pick it up.

No rebate up where your buying? I bought based on the price incentive and some research. Glad I did and I do agree with another earlier poster, its likely I would not have bought the bike unless there was a rebate program.

I just bought a quick throttle from G2. Or www.G2Ergo.com. Lots of chatter about this mod, you might want to look into it for your bike. If you have any questions about it ask for Gary, very informative and helpful over at G2. The G2 improves throttle issues and allows smooth power transition off corners, etc. I bought another version recently for my Ducati 999R. Its made by Robbymoto at a substancially higher cost, however it has 4 beautiful cams that accompanies the kit alongwith other accessories.

Check this site for a post regarding the quick throttle upgrade made by G2.

Johnnys-

Have you got the tube yet? is it a tamer tube like the others on their site? I've been in contact with Gary, just seeing if you have got the item yet, Do you know how you would be installing it, as far as grip options go? Thanks.
