I was curious, is anyone riding the 1125R or CR in a motorcycle club? It's American made, and such an amazing bike, there has got to be some out there.

Maybe I should of been more specific:
I meant traditional motorcycle clubs. Patch wearing clubs. No offense to the Buell riding clubs, I ride with one here in Oregon from time to time. But obviously Buell riding clubs ride Buells.

I am curious if there is anyone that rides an 1125R or CR that is in a traditional patch wearing club. Normally these clubs require American made bikes, and most ride Harley's, customs choppers etc. So I was wondering if anyone rides the 1125 in one of these types of clubs.

I'm the President of the UK Charter, we're a full backpatch club. There's no requirement to ride any particular make/model of bike, fully faired bikes were frowned upon for a while but since I have one who's going to argue?

Having said that we're a lovely bunch of guys : ) I've even been fortunate enough to spend some time in Az with the R&W guys... and a night in the cells there too (funny story) LOL

NAM KNIGHTS STATES:
All members ride Harley Davidson motorcycles, or custom cycles with the appearance and construction of a Harley Davidson, with its engine parts interchangeable with Harley Davidson. Engine size is mandated at a minimum of 750cc.

I cant recall ever seeing a Warlock, Pagan, Breed, or any other 1% club here riding anything but big H-D. I guess the worst thing that could happen puling up is.....

I had to borrow a Road King when I was state side just to "blend in", lots of 1% clubs here have similar rules but not all.

It's interesting showing up at a rideout on something "quick" as you're immediately asked to take on outriding/decoy duties..

I was worried that people would get on here and bash clubs/club members. Was hoping it wouldn't happen though.

I am a member of a major 1%er club here in the USA, and ride an 1125R, was just trying to see if others do.

Thanks for the replys, it is interesting to see.

Hope everyone enjoys their Easter
take care

Drop me a PM Mooch - we're planning a coast to coast run sometime next year, and should you ever find yourself in the UK we'd be happy to show you around and make any introductions you might want/need.

We also have great relations with the major club in Malta (off there again in 2 weeks) if you ever find yourself in that neck of the woods..

Sorry I don't know much about clubs. I am sure some of the sportbike clubs have Buells but I don't know about the older traditional clubs.

I like how you guys throw around that one-percenter term like its not a big deal. I work in law enforcement and if i see the 1% tattoo or symbol anywhere on someone, I'll be conducting my interview with that person in handcuffs for my safety. If you guys are real one-percenters, I wish you weren't on Buells.

I'm not bashing patch wearing motorcycle clubs. 99% of motorcycle riders are law-abiding, it's that 1% of outlaws I don't like.

Most real outlaws aren't going to be running around saying "hey I'm a big bad outlaw biker"! Do a little reading and respect your brother riders whether they run a full patch or not and you won't have anything to worry about.

I smile from ear to ear when this happens to me Spar.

I've stopped going to the bar on Saturday nights because of it. Apparently because I've got tats from shoulder to wrist, ear rings and wear my side ways I'm a criminal. I just sit with a shit eatin grin when they find no drugs and realize I have no record.

its really obvious to me that even in the buell forums, theres always that one or two tough guys that spout off at the gums about shit they dont know- to those who run their mouths about 'the rest of them can piss in my hat' or whatever your un-inteligent comment was- i strongly urge you to find a patch-holder and express that feeling to their face... prolly won't happen a second time would be my guess... to the dumb cop on here who runs his mouth about handcuffing 1%ers before he will 'conduct an interview with them'- hahaha, there aint a single 1%er that will talk to you anyways, so don't waste your time. I joined this forum cuz i figured out of all the 1125's (what is it, less than 10,000, right?) out there, hopefully some of the inteligent owners would be on here to chat with about issues/ mods on their bikes, but there havnt been too many on here that have impressed me... one of the only ones on here that has had anything worth reading to say to me was... you guessed it... a 1%er... i guess the other 99% of you people are just internet heroes.
In answer to one of the original questions, stateside one of the top 3 clubs rules state, american bike 883cc or larger... this may be a touch different depending on where you go, ive heard some areas require 1200 or bigger, but the buells are certainly few and far between.

I have to say I'm totally ignorant on this 1% stuff. I guess it used to refer to some outlaw bikers "clubs". Now it seems there are all sorts of different clubs with people who wear patches. I assume they're all about getting together, riding, and perhaps helping out others through poker runs, charity drives, etc. But, are they really 1%ers? Because, it sure seems to me there are a lot of cruiser-types wearing patches and riding in groups.

Although, Hildreth's post makes me wonder about 1%ers. I seriously have no idea.

And, if that makes me a 99%er then so be it. I won't lose sleep at night.

J2blue-
That is actually a pretty good link. Thanks for posting it.

Hildreth-
Though we may be on other sides of the fence, I sincerely hope that your prospecting is going well and that you are close to earning your patch. And hope you got your issues with your 1125 fixed. I have been riding the hell out of mine.

Ridegreen2oo-
All I can say is, It figures. Just like some criminals give bikers a bad name, you give cops a bad name. Admitting to profiling, too bad you didn't post your name so it could be used to show your prejudice to a jury down the road. Ignorance is ignorance, and there is no excuse.

To everyone else-
Thanks for responding to the post. I have thought about putting it up for quite some time but wasn't sure how it would go. I appreciate everyone's input. I did not start this thread to brag about being a club member (I didn't even mention what club I was in) but honestly was curious if others rode the 1125R in a club other than Hildreth and I.

either way, I enjoy this board, and love my Buell!!

Speaking of LEO prejudices - the night I spent in the cells in Az was simply for wearing an Outlaw patch, b.t.w. "Outlaw" is not a term I'd use to describe the patch in the UK, that'd nake you very unpopular in certain quarters (me included).

I'm afraid I fall into the archetypal "generic biker" category as far as the LEO are concerned - long hair, goatee and tatts (including a few 1% tattoos).

Personally I'm very proud of my club and my involvement in it, I'll talk to anyone about it (up to a point) - anyone not involved in law enforcement that is..

I don’t know if my understanding of what a 1% er is differs from what apparently most peeps here is but...
From what I know 1% "clubs" are drug running, drug selling, and extortionist, paid killers. IE if you mess with them they kill you. Not call you bad names on the web.

Tats, and riding a bike do not make a 1%er . Belonging to a riding club does not.

The cop who posted above is correct in cuffing anyone who displays 1% colors. I am not in law enforcement, and I ride and even have tats… I also hope that cops in my area would take a really close look and start making arrests if 1%ers started showing up in my town.

Gbaz I agree! although...they do help out at the odd charity ride too......good PR : )

To those sporting 1% tats and patches that aren't patched members of a "club" I'd be careful where you ride. I especially avoid any area currently having a turf war.

GBaz

Whatever the "popular" view of 1% clubs is they're not all "drug runners, extortionists and paid killers".

Having been in a full 1% backpatch club for the past 15 years it becomes quite tiresome to have that old news played over and over again by people with no idea what the life is really like.

Most towns (certainly in the UK) already have a 1% presence and 99% of people are blissfully unaware of this.

Whatever business a club chooses to indulge in is nobody's business but theres. It's pointless indulging in conjecture and it's simplistic to tar all clubs with the same brush.

I am not going to suggest that there are no 1% criminals, but then again in any demographic you will find people at extremes.

I "know" a fair few bent LEOs, that doesn't mean they are all bad - the same is true of teachers, bank managers, doctors etc etc

Being pre-judged for a lifestyle choice is something for civvies to do, I wouldn't expect it from a biker - but as you quite rightly say riding a bike doesn't make you a biker.
