I tried the search and it wont work for some reason it just gives me a blank page everytime. I also googled it and found nothing. So I am assuming there is no damper for the cr?

Search is working fine... maybe clear your cache/history? Try a different browser or operating system? I use Firefox and Gentoo linux.

What I think d-adams is saying is... NO, there is no damper for the CR yet. And that you didn't put any effort into the "search"

R damper does not work on CR.

I do not believe there is a CR damper out there.

I even thought of machining some brackets to attach a different damper but could not figure out how and where it would attach. The CR is weird.

Not to my knowledge, but I only have one R myself. I don't have the CR.

Btw, I wasn't trying to be mean, I just did a search to see what came up and posted the links. There were a bunch more, but most were irrelevant for the CR. Jeff, you've got some nice riding down in that area, been there a few times, although I usually stay up on this side of the river.

D adams my search is working fine, BUT the cr is not like the R at all we have the old traditional standoffs and it does not allow the GPR damper to be mounted on top of the stem because we have handlebars crossing it.

I haven't actually looked at the front end on one of those, but I guess maybe a normal style damper (Ohlins?) might work if it were mounted under the lower triple tree. Not sure though, might need a bracket fabricated just for mounting it to the frame. Anybody got one near me? I'd be happy to see what I can come up with, but I need to see it in person to see what can be done.

xtreme i did see one of the threads posted by d_adams but it was almost a year old so i guess i did find one but was looking to make sure i wasnt missing something. The other 2 are about the r and I know there is one for that bike. I can run searches everywhere else but when I do it here it just brings a blank screen. Thanks for the answer. All I needed was a simple yes or no. Oh and nice how you added to keep the old thread alive you seem like a good guy.

Cherry_bomb, it would be fairly easy to mount a damper to the bar bracket, the problem is, how to attach it to the frame. Because of the unique frame design, there aren't a lot of places you could attach to.

The mounting on the steering side has several different options. However, there isn't much in the way of options to attach to the rest of the bike.

Looking over the whole front end, the only thing I could see to mount to would be the bracket the holds the fan/pod assembly in place.

i'm sure the GPR XB damper would work with a little modification!

The XB damper should work but I am still not sure where you'd mount the arm.

I haven't seen one on an XB so I am not sure what the arm mounts to. Anyone have pics?

Cherry_bomb, that might work, but the only place to really mount it would be the airbox cover bolts, or the gas cap mount. Not sure how that would look/work though. Hmmm, gonna hafta do some instigating and test fitting. I have some ideas, just don't know if it will work or not.

Need to blow that pic up some, but the resolution isn't really there.

The GPR XB damper mounts to the airbox cover screw.
If it weren't for the pod mount being part of the top clamp I would of bought one of these and modified it to fit. Guess I'll waiting, since I could find no good way to mount the other style damper.

ditto me with IllBuell.
I was all hot on the idea of a GPR, especially when their rep said that they had one for the CR at one of the IMS shows.
But alas, he was wrong.
I don't care where it mounts...as long as it looks like it belongs there.

One guy loaned his CR to GPR for prototyping, they ended up not producing it, as it was too complex and costly, plus only like 3000 CR's exist.

Froggy:
Ok, well if ALL 3000 of us bought one, that'd be worth it for them!

Right?

So... I'll call them tomorrow and say I (unofficially) speak for the group, and that they should get right on churning these things out because the orders will come flying in.

this will be our general problem for the future. many aftermarket-companies like LSL, Rizoma, etc. stopped production and development immediatly after hd's decision to discontinue buell. and there are a lot of parts, which will never be homologated for this bike.

big problem especially for europeans, as most of us only can use registered and homologated products on our bike.

i've talked to guys from bitubo (when i asked them for a solution for the CR) and they told me, they would certainly not invest a lot of money for all the homologation-work and certifications for a dead bike.

I'm going to see if I can scrounge up an Ohlins damper to play with, I think a buddy of mine has one or two laying around.

I should know this but what are your machining capabilities? (not abilities but rather facilities)

I can get stuff CNC prototyped as long as there is a drawing on a napkin with some rough measurements.

If you've got an idea but need any prototyping help, I'll do what I can. Assuming of course, that you don't already have all of this available.

The prototype will be hand machined on a bridgeport series 2 mill. I have access to several other NC machines though, but I want to make sure I can do it first. I have several hundred capable machinists that I can question at any time, I work in the world's largest free standing machine shop. : )
1.5 million square feet of machining operations, although where I do my work is at a much smaller place. I only wish I had the capacity of the company I work for.

Really? Where is this? What do you guys do there? It'd be cool to see a pic or two if possible.
