This is my bike as it sits...i just mounted it to the 1125r fairing stay and i used a 2k9 zx10 hotbodies wind screen...with a little trimmin a perfect fit..im thinkin of doing the pods yellow too. and then im gonna strip the frame and swingarm to raw aluminum cause i am not a fan of the whole michigan color scheme....lol

i like it. it make the cockpit a little smaller and still has great wind protection.

Can you take some more pics of everything, including the cockpit if you have the chance to?

Thanks

I like the looks of the Firebolt better than the 1125R, but for some reason, I don't really like the Firebolt fairing on the 1125R. I *should* like it, but for some reason it just doesn't sit right with me. It looks like you're doing a good job of the conversion, though. More pics are definitely a necessity!

Whilst I won't criticise - the reason I like the 1125R fairing is it keeps more wind off me than the Firebolt fairing ever did, Buell must have spent quite a lot of test time on the 1125R fairing, given that the mudguard (front fender), seat and airbox cover (nearly) are the old Firebolt items anyway - there is an old saying "it it ain't broke don't fix it" but well done for your ingenuity

now that is what a clutch cover is supposed to look like. NICE job on that. Did you machine it yourself or have it done for you?

I think it would look better if you leave the pods black, It kinda hides them.
I want to see the finished pictures.....

That looks really cool. I hope your planning on making it all one color (yellow air box and pillion cover). That is going to look great. Always cool to see a custom 1125r. Keep up the good work. I too would like to see how you mounted everything

Sorry, I'm not feeling it. The bottom edge of the fairing doesn't blend with the pod well. I like the color though.

Did you actually tap holes in the clutch cover for the case saver? Thats pretty brave if you did.

No i welded a about a 3/8" thick(ring) of machined aluminum to the case then i tapped it....i used 10/32 allen bolts that are recessed about 3/16" in the outer "slider" i it should be pretty durable...not that i plan on using it lol but You know what i mean.

i plan on trimming the fairing with the line thats on it...if you look really close you can see a very faint black like there.....its all work in progress...

Not bad...but you need to rock the fairing over a bit to make the lower edge more parallel to the ground like they are on the XBxR.
It's been done before and some say they don't like it but I think it's got more character than the stock upper. And it "fits" no different than the stock upper either. The stock one looks like an add on piece too.

loveda - just rotate it a little, you've got a winner.

ya you need to nose down the fairing a little bit yet to get a better angle

Looks nice. I was thinking about stripping the frame bare too, just been apprehensive about it since the sticker on it says do not sand or polish, it being the fuel tank and all. Is the consensus that its just a disclaimer so some hacker doesn't go at it with an angle grinder?

I want to know more about getting the powder coat off. Do you know of anyone that has done this? Someone here said they had to hot tank their swingarm for a week to get the powder coat off. Don't want to have to do that.

Great! I really think the 1125 looks better with a bare aluminum frame. A black body looks good, like the 1125RR last fall. Even the pics on EBR's page of the white 1125RR and red/silver 1190RR look good with the aluminum frame. I'm also looking forward to seeing your bike in yellow with aluminum frame. Thanks for sharing.

how does that "aircraft coating remover" affect the plastics? Should I remove everything I don't want damaged from the frame before I try this?
Lovedabueller, when you're finished removing the powder coat, please post pictures.

Thanks
