There is an 1125R at powder keg harley davidson (formerly Aces and Eights) here outside of Cincinnati (right by Kings Island).

Not a great dealer, but not an awful one either, and friendly people.

Regardless, ask your insurance co how much the salvage is,
I personally would like to pick up a parts bike on the cheap
but they will bring a good $ as they sit, depending on the co, some know the value some don't
Bob
PS' don't tell anyone i told you this.
Again, heal well

Anony, why are you hiding? I agree that the #1 reason that this country sucks is that no one will take responsibility for their own actions, lawyers should be growing like strange fruit.

Coward!

I know this situation all to well. No one keeps their dogs on their property around here. My neighbors down the street had a german shepherd and a chiuaua. the chiuaua was laying dead in the middle of the road one day. Instead of fencing in their yard, they just got another little dog.

Anonymous,
If we didn't shit like this would happen all the time. What would you do if your kid was killed as a result of trying to avoid the dog? Just say, "oh well, shit happens" I don't think so. Sometimes we need lawyers in order to sort out and make right another's irresponsibility. This is a country of laws, not a friggen every man for himself. Although with whats going on lately, I'm not so sure. Lastly, the situation may not be a vehicle code or municipal code violation, but the owner does bear some responsibility because this is not an act of God. Common sense dictates you don't let your dog free roam around traffic unleashed. In a civil action you just have to prove responsibility by a majority of jurors. This situation begs to be followed up and ruled in your favor in terms of whos going to pay the bills? Can you imagine if you didn't have health insurance but had assets like a house? If you roll over and let the guy off who do you think the hospital will go after to pay the bills? A couple days in the ICU and your talking big bucks, a week and there goes your house.

Yep, and I feel dogs need to be kept leashed or fenced in. I personally have almost bit it once due to a dog running out on me. Also I have seen it happen other times passing someone walking a dog on a sidewalk, the dog notices me and begins to charge, and probably would of ruined my day if it wasn't on a leash.

A better option would be to train the dogs not to chase, but thats a fat chance of ever happening.

When I lived in Germany I collided with a dog in the road (German Shepherd) whilst riding my 'Busa. The owner was playing golf at the side of the road and the dog was off his leash.

He was annoyed that I hadn't taken avoiding action but I figured it was the safest thing (for me) just to hit the dog.

Damage to both dog and bike was minimal but the guys attitude was so bad that I ended up laying him out.

I still feel bad about hitting the dog.......

Personally, I rather run the owner over than hurt the dog.

I agree Bob. I'm a paramedic so I do care about people but I also feel like stupid people is Gods way of natural selection and an effective means of population control. Without proper confinement or training dogs don't know to stay out of the road. The dogs owner who acted like he didn't give a shit about me better hope he's not standing outside the next time I'm on that road because I will have some words with him.

Thats awesome.. Me and a friend was in a rental car and a guy tried to force his way in from of us in traffic. So my friend pitted his a**.. The guys car rolled over and all his stuff flew out the window..LOL.. We stopped and he was like I don't know what I did or who hit me(Duh I thought)}.. So we left. Never heard anything out of that one. Must have been brothers with the a**hole with the dog..LOL

For me, if i was in this situation, the dog owners attitude would go a long ways.... if they showed remorse, i would just chalk it up as lessoned learned, if they acted like a prick...... a dead dog would be the least of that owners worries...

A friend of mine had his dog run out into the street and cause a car crash (nobody hurt). When he mentioned it, I asked "Wow. So who's liable for that". He answered "apparently, me." Don't know any more then that, but he wasn't a dumb guy.

If I do something that can reasonably be known to create a public hazard, and it causes a problem, then I am likely liable. That would include pets...

While I'm the last to randomly sue anyone I do believe in laying responsibility at the feet of those that cause or allow mishaps to happen. When was the last time you saw a wild animal try and catch a vehicle? How often do you see it in dogs? The owner is responsible for keeping his animal under control.

At least I have enough sack to post my words without hiding my name.

Why are people allowed to post anonymously?

because some people technically arent supposed to be on here. buell employees and such... but sometimes they pop in to lend a helping hand anyway.

the admins can verify who the annony posts are by.

like the one earlier, sometimes though people are just to scared to just come out and say what they think so they try to hide behind an annony post. that use of the feature doesnt usually last long.

Often times people have a valid reason to. Non-disclosure agreements is the usual reason, but often times people post when they don't want their wife to find out they are X-mas shopping on here. If someone does post without an apparent valid reason, they will be contacted, and most likely exposed.

You might one day need to use it, so the option is there for you. If you aren't sure if you should use it or not, feel free to send any moderator an email : )

Ok I got the final on my bike today. Insurance did total it and gave me the option to buy it back. I have decided to just get a new bike instead but if anyone is interested in buying the bike for a good engine and other parts it takes $2,000. For pics see the thread titled "After pics...". Anyone who is interested send me a PM.

One more on the dog thread. I was in college, headed out for a weekend with GF on back of my cb750 after she got off work. It was like 10pm and we were doing maybe 95 on a straight but rather dark country road. There was a driveway every once in a while, and people did live around there in a mix of small farms and country estates, so I guess you'd call it semi-rural. In an instant there was a big Shepard mixed dog in front of the bike -- the thing just bolted out in front of me from behind a car, timing it the way a wolf times its' attack. I didn't have time to swerve (luckily for us). We cut the dog basically in half. I got the bike stopped, there was blood all over us and guts and DOA dog. I'm a "dog person," and this still messes me up. So who's fault was that? The dog was doing what came naturally, which is precisely what I was doing (riding f'ing fast on a motorcycle). It was the dog owner who CREATED that particular horror show with his unleashed/unfenced/untrained animal that he ALLOWED to be on a public road in the dark. So I'm with Froggy on this one.
