So I did some researching and did not come up with a definitive answer to my question. What is the verdict on the 2009 factory rear spools as far as using them with a rear stand? Are 09 owners using these spools, even though they do seem a bit cheap. On the pitbull website they recommend to NOT USE the factory spools. I would love to hear some experience on this matter! Depending on what stand you use, you may end up scratching the swingarm. Switching to aftermarket spools that bolt right on can prevent it. I use swingarm stands anyway. | ||

You can fix the scratching problem by bending the "tangs" of the stand out. Though I made my own axle type setup, you still have to use the stock lift points to remove the wheel..bending the stand fingers (?) out a bit. Mine don't hit. Mike | ||

DHM has replacement spools for the 09 that stand off more from the swingarm. they are a web sponsor. | ||

I don't see any reason why not to use the stockers, isn't that why they put them there? If you're not happy with the stock ones just get any spools that fit 6mm threads. I know 99-05 R6's use that size. | ||

A friend with an 09 R ended up scratching his swingarm with the pitbull stand. I have a CR, and I did not even though I used his stand a couple of times. | ||

Pit-bull swingarm stand, I got it from American Sport Bike. It fits all my 1125's and XB's perfectly. I got some cheapo no-name one for my Blast. | ||

I used the stock spools on my R, and the stand (T-Rex) put a small scuff on my swing arm, not very noticeable. The spools held up just fine, my bike sat on them for about a month, with no problems. | ||

The stock spools are fine if you don't mind possibly scratching the swinger. Even 1125 specific stands can scratch your swinger if you aren't really careful lifting it. I picked up some $25 6mm spools (R1) from Vortex before DHM offered theirs. Curved to keep the stand forks from contacting the swingarm and they look sweet in shiny black anodized aluminum. I use a standard Pit-Bull that I spread out to fit. I just picked up the DHM eco sliders for the swingarm too. These also look fantastic. Then I have the DHM anodized alum fork sliders on front. Next will be Uly frame pucks and waiting on the DHM case savers or the CF ones from EBR and my protection package will be complete | ||

I use a pit-bull S/S (spool/standard) swingarm stand. You need the ones they make for the numbskulls with super wide rear tires to fit the 1125R. I installed the forked pieces backwards on the stand, i.e. left is mounted on the right, and cut off half of one of the longer tangs to prevent scratching. It's worked so far. | ||

I just put my stand together and the spooled pit bull fits with out rubbing the swing arm. Its close on the left side but there is still some room. The detachable handle is kinda cool too. |
