So it's time to move again and I need to crate and ship the 1125R. Shipping requirements say I have to drain all the fuel from the tank. I went by the local shop and the Techs couldn’t tell me. No big surprise. That's why I'm glad I have the fine folks here at badweb to help. So thanks in advance. Yes, I could ride it till I just run out of gas, but pushing your ride home is just embarrassing. Yes, I tried searching "Drain gas" and "How to drain gas" and couldn’t find what I was looking for... | ||

there is a screw for that on the lower right side of the frame, next to the gas pump. but i'm not sure, if you can open it, as long as the swingarm is installed.  | ||

On a side note, do you really NEED to drain all the fuel? The dealer I bought my 1125R from shipped it to me. I asked if they were going to drain the fuel and they said "no, there's no way to tell there's even fuel in the bike unless it's filled most of the way up". The bike did arrive with the tank dry, though--not sure if they drained it or that's how it came to them. So, you could just run the bike down until it's a bit into the gas light so there's less than a gallon left and just tell whoever asks that you drained the fuel. | ||

On the left side of the frame remove the plastic cover over the belt sprocket and there is a plug at the bottom of the frame. You take it out.....( be outside and have a way to catch the gas!) and it drains all of the fuel out. It is in the shop manual and I had to get my frame welded so know from experience. | ||

I've shipped many cars and bikes, and draining the fuel was never required?? Mike | ||

Or maybe just ride it there. You know they are made to be ridden not shipped other wise they'd have a spot to tie them down. | ||

hell one of my xbs showed up with so much fuel in it the swingarm was even full. the shippers never even ask about it. | ||

Thanks for all the info. I would ride it there but I'm going from CA to HI... Dunno how good the 25R would do underwater...  As for saying its drained some movers will siphon the tank to make sure its drained. | ||

Just roll it over. You can tickle its belly while you've got it upside down. |
