Um I think its time we apply the title of this thread to the thread itself.... I was not looking for a flame war, as I stated a few pages back, this thread was initiated out of frustration and a moment of Male PMS... I very much appreciate the comments of all those who have posted, positive and not, as this was exactly what I was looking for. Perspective. I needed some. Nothing would make me happier than to get my situation resolved and the CR back in my garage... I have parts waiting to strap on and summer is just round the corner.
Again I thank all of you for posting up your experiences, ideas, and criticisms, they have given me some perspective and a well needed reality check.
If anyone with access to HD-net sees r1022.1am listed as available please hit me up.

Those who *have* Buells and are frustrated by the lack of dealership support, and assumed that by purchasing a new motorcycle, they would not have to do all the work on it themselves to have the motorcycle competently fixed.

I bought my 1125R after Buell's untimely demise. I knew dealerships wouldn't be keen on keeping up service since it was hard to get someone to look up parts for my M2 or argue about whether or not a part would fit...when I knew it would.

Nonetheless, I drive an extra 45 minutes to get to GOE Harley/Buell in Angleton, TX because the closer dealer (Mancuso HD/Buell) is full of shit. I definitely was frustrated with Mancuso, but I found GOE and all is well now. I only take my bike there for warranty issues (do my own service). So far I've had to replace the speed sensor and clutch cover and internals (vacuum assist port weep).

I will NEVER sell this bike. Ever. If the dealers want to start giving me a hard time, I'll find parts and do the work myself. This motorcycle is too valuable to me as a true Buell enthusiast to lay it to waste.

Mikezx9r Posted on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 - 11:46 am:

You didnt call the OP of this thread and Justa4banger liars?"

No, I absolutely did not. I'm only pointing out that you are a liar. I never made any such accusation against any other in this thread. Stating that "Hell, you even have the owner of the site calling people liars if they say they have a problem with the bikes." is just a false story that you made up.

More of your dishonest comments:

"I would have pushed my 1125 in to a canal and collected insurance money if I paid anywhere near full price for it."

Maybe true, but if so proves your dishonesty. So either you are lying about what you would do, or you are indeed a deeply dishonest person who would commit insurance fraud. Either way, you are a liar.

"having spent over $2k to get the bike to run right"

It is dishonest to assert that you had to spend any money "to get the bike to run right." You could have had a competent dealership resolve whatever issue you thought you had. A myriad of magazine reviews found no such glaring issues as you with the stock setup. Adding an aftermarket exhaust, and/or expensive aftermarket tuning has never been necessary to get any Buell to "run right". Too many others have experiences opposite of yours and thus show the dishonesty of your assertion. Thus your assertion is a lie.

"the fuel leak these bikes come with"

Implying that all 1125 machines are delivered with a fuel leak, another blatantly dishonest characterization. I call it a lie.

"I had to spend just to make it run like it should have when it came out of the factory."

Again, not honest. Too many, the vast, vast overwhelming majority of 1125 owners do not share your view. If they did have any issues, their dealership resolved them in short order. That is not unexpected for a first year run, entirely brand new motorcycle model.

"If they were worth anything, Im sure some people would sell the bike and get something else."

Implying that an 1125 is not worth anything is a dishonest. Yet another obvious blatant lie. You apparently lie so much that you don't know when you are being dishonest.

"I had to invest time and money just to make it run properly."

Again, not an honest characterization. I call it a lie.

"the 1125 has more problems than should be expected out of a $12-13k bike."

I'd love to see the statistics to back that up in comparison to other higher end bikes in the class like Ducati or BMW or Aprilia or KTM. Fact is, you are just making up a story that is untrue. It is a lie. Aprilia just recalled ALL of their American RSV4's, what are they like $15-$20K each?

"Shouldnt they do research and development and test things before selling them?"

Implying that Buell didn't do research and develpment or testing on their products, yet another deeply dishonest, malicious statement, another lie.

"Ive always owned mainstream bikes and didnt imagine having some of the problems that I do."

Implying that other bikes never suffer any issues, let alone serious ones, as anyone knows is a ridiculous lie.

"Without reading this forum for a while, you dont realize the threads of people being unhappy that get buried."

That is a blatant bold-faced lie. That has never ever happened here. We don't manipulate threads here as you imply. Yet another lie and example of your dishonesty.

"some act like the bikes are perfect and there are no problems."

I call that a lie. It is nonsense. No one believes that any bike is perfect.

"If you fell (sic)otherwise about that, they tell you to sell your bike and leave."

Another dishonest characterization, another lie.

"Your results werent what everyone wanted to hear, so they bashed you and tried to make it your fault or the dyno operators fault instead of admitting that the almighty Eric Buell may have made something that wasnt perfect."

Inaccurate. People were offended at the indignant, selfish, emotional tirade bashing Erik Buell Racing. Any issues/problems that are thoughtfully rationally raised here on this forum are welcomed with friendly interaction. You blatantly mis-characterized the issue. I call it a lie.

So there you have it. I've not perused your other posts on the forum. Anyone care to wager that they are not also rife with dishonest commentary?

In 2004 i rode into a H.D/Buell shop for the first time, on my 748 ducati...a couple of hours later rode out on a new xb12r...2years and 23k miles later bought a honda vfr...6months later got rid of the vfr, bought a 96s1...got ran over by a guy who thougth stop signs were suggestions...after surgery bought a 98 s1....still have it...and problem free...last october bought a 1125cr...love it. Do bikes occasionally break down? yes..anything mechanical does...20 plus years of riding, i find the buells as good if not better than the orient, and certainly tons more character. Ride your buell..have a problem bring it here for discussion, and recommendations... this site is wonderful for mature, thoughtful, discussions, wheather we can agree or agree to disagree, but be respectful.

Having ridden for 35 yrs on bikes of all sizes and countries of origin and having spent nearly £30K in the eighties building a trick monoshock Ducati I can honestly say that both my Firebolt (now sold) and my 09 1125R are the best bikes I have ever owned for not only grin factor but also overall quality of engineering etc, Sure there are some issues but the recalls and tech bulletins have sorted these out. Here in the UK there were several questions being asked about the quality of bikes from a certain major European manufacture in the Brit bike press.
I wouldn't swap or sell my 1125R for any other bike and turned down a Ducati 1098R in favour of the Buell.
Get a grip and sort out any minor issues yourself and be glad you didn't pay the full price like a lot of us did.

The irony is . . . and I've owned many motorcycles, cars and airplanes. . . is that that when mechanical things are screwed up you can fix them.

Shame the same doesn't apply to the operators.

The "Discount 1125 Fire Sale" has simply created a trailer park in the Buell community.

It'll pass.

i had to comment...

1. Mike he's right your first quoted comment is incorrect. Blake instead calls anyone with a negative opinion of Buell products a liar and/or trolls.

2. Blake i believe this comment to be a smartass remark by Mike to invoke some humor... i highly doubt he would do what he said or meant any truth to it... But hey thats just me and my interpretation of the comment. i laughed... : D

3. Actually Blake many have proved that even adding a K&N airfilter causes a lean condition that should have the engine retuned.... i also pointed out to Mike that in stock form with the latest flash does make the 08 R's run like a champ...i believe Mike even acknowledged this...i'd have to go back and look.

4. Umm these bikes do have a leak.... its not a leak in the sense that the fuel tank is broke, but unwanted fuel venting out and causing a puddle on the ground is a leak...isn't it? granted not all bike experience this and this mainly has to do with the latest flash, weather temps, location Etc etc etc......

5. Actually blake depending on when Mike bought his bike VS some of the available flashes, i could see where he had to spend money on a tune to get the bike running properly, he's not the only one..

6. i believe Mike is putting this in perspective when you compare the old prices VS the new prices.. If you bought your bike before the Drop dead date, then yea, your not going to get hardly anything that you have invested, out of the bike.. I mean they were selling new bikes for less than used ones...

7. Actually there is no facts to whether mike is lying or telling the truth, so this comment is a opinion... thats all i see..

8. Umm with out seeing more of the topic in which that comment was pulled... that comment is pointless....

9. Mike didn't say that mainstream bikes didn't have issues, he just stated that he couldn't believe the issues he was having with his buell...

10. i think he gotcha LOL : D ehhh but who knows for certain..

11. Umm Blake, he said they "ACT". i think we all know , not one bike will go without some kind of issue from any manufacturer

12. Actually i was told by a forum member that maybe i should sell my bike....I can get the quote if you like....

13. Actually i posted info, i gave my rant, i was then questioned on my testing procedures, then given reasons based on opinions on why my testing procedure were wrong, retested came back with same results and since then decided thats there's no more point in discussing it here. I believe others have let those threads die to avoid the drama.

No doubt. If someone can get so tweaked over a bike I suggest you dont take up aviation for a hobby. I came in at the end of HD/Buell and got a great deal. Some small issues but nothing that cant be fixed with some time and patience. I found a dealer with a tech that owns a new CR and plan on using them for whatever I need. That alone speaks volumes over the place where I bought the bike. Maybe Buell isnt for everyone. Just like jumping out of airplanes, you hate it or you LOVE it.

Jules,

What you yourself are positing wrt Buell motorcycles is in my opinion nonsense. Buells are not nitch bikes deserving of any special consideration in the way of quality or reliability.

Blake,

I understand your point and appreciate the non-inflamatory manner in which you expressed it : )

We'll have to disagree though - I still think they're a niche bike, it may be that I'm not using the term correctly though, and TBH I think that being "niche" is part of their strength... Maybe I should say "exclusive" rather than niche (?).

It was meant as a compliment rather than a negative, I love my Buell just like I loved my old X1 (which I wish to Hell I'd never sold!)

Great. I'm part of the trailer park now. LMAO!!

Entertaining thread to say the least.

Buell is a niche bike. It's not a negative thing. But in the overall scheme of motorcycles, it's more fact than opinion. Again, that doesn't make it a negative comment about the bike or those that have owned them for much longer than I.

I've only put on a couple hundred miles on mine because its winter. But those couple of hundred have been awesome. I ride about 15,000 miles/yr and I expect I will put thousands of highly enjoyable miles on my 1125r. Very few if any will be on anything but twisty country roads. (i.e. not Track Days)

Yes, I expect I will have problems with this bike. This is my 9th bike and I've had 'something' go wrong with every bike I've owned. Thats not a detriment against any one of them. It just is what it is. When and if something goes wrong with it, I'll fix it and continue to enjoy the hell out of it.

I loved the look of the R and CR from the first day I saw them. But yes, it took a fire sale for me to buy one. Again, not a negative (imo) against Buell, just that after having $27,000 of bikes in my garage, 13 grand on a bike wasn't in the works. 6 grand? Absolutely.

I understand peoples frustration with HD. Again, it is what is. Buell will be back. I don't think anyone has any doubts about it.

This trailer-park dude has enjoyed this board. While my R won't see any mods outside of MAYBE exhaust, I get alot of great info from this place and appreciate those on it.

Finally...opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and many times, like assholes...they stink.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to the couch on my boulevard and am going to have a Hamms. Because its the beer you've been lookin for.

Peace.

Nice....

Maybe it allowed many people who wouldn't get to enjoy a Buell the opportunity. I have to admit, the rebates were what it took to stop the Moto Guzzi sale I was getting involved with to buy an '09CR. Hell, the Guzzi owner even agreed- 'Damn, I don't blame you!'

...but wait. I've owned a '99M2 since new. I guess this trailer trash owner has been around awhile.

Take your pick. I have C-141, KC-10, KC-97/B-29, B-17, B-25, DC-3, 150, 172, T-34 time. A&P,II/MEI all kinds of shit Ive either flown or logged a few FE hours in.
I could own a lot of crap for the cash I dropped to get tickets for warbirds and the later. Honestly I like having a unique machine and a 1125R fits that bill.

Go back and look at the very first words you wrote.

I think you may have wandered on to some good information with your testing but you pretty much labeled yourself as a goof ball walking in the door.

I've met over 4,500 folks in my years of riding Buells . . . not until the last couple years has the saying "it takes all types" had to be called in to explain some of them.

I used to try to help folks . . I've sent many folks with problems new bikes and done some extraordinary things over the years.

But the new crop of "shout, insult and throw a fit" crowd doesn't inspire much desire to help.

Go deal with Harley-Davidson . . . you really screwed yourself in many folks' eyes with your mouth.

My opinion only . . some will agree, some won't . . . matters not to me. All my bikes are running great.
