I just picked up my bike (09CR) from the local dealer here in Germany. To say the least, the experience wasn't warm (welcome). I asked that they check to ensure I had the most recent flash and they said I do. Given the cold treatment, I don't exactly trust them.

Can someone confirm the number of the recent flash?

They gave me a computer printout of the "Digital Technician II" and it indicates the "Kalibrierung ID" (translation: monitor calibration) is M3PUS152. Not sure if that is the "flash".

Much appreciated in advance!

I believe that 162 is the most recent one.

I would have expected a Euro spec bike would have 'EC' in its Calibration ID rather than US? I may well be wrong about this.

Crazy, thanks for your service to the USA! The latest ECM flash for a US-spec '09CR is M3PUS152 ... So it looks like you're good.

Many thanks Mike for the info. I appreciate the pat on the back for serving. Most days it's easy, some... not so much. Kinda like life in general. Motorcycles make the hard days better!

Motorcycles make everything better and 152 is the newest CR flash.

Easy, I may just do that. Headin' to the Isle of Man TT in June. I'll have to check the map and see how much of a diversion it would be.

Is the flash for an '08 1125R the same as '09 and '10? Which one is is it 152 or 162?

Thanks
Peter

R is different than CR. 152 is CR only. I don't remember offhand (but a search will turn it up) if the R is "ten more" or "ten less" - 142 or 162. Part of me wants to say 142...

And, an 08 has a different flash than '09/10 because of the injector change...

Crazy, I'm a 10-year USAF veteran so I tend to notice these things. Bikes have always been my sanity outlet, military plus the 14 years since I got out. Latest flash info >>

08R = M3HUS062
09R = M3HUS142
09CR = M3PUS152

Not sure on the '10 models if even different than '09 versions.

Frog,
Thanks for posting the link. I didn't search the FAQ, but had skimmed it awhile back and didn't remember seeing it.

I am just happy this thread hasn't turned nasty.

Here's to the Brotherhood of Buell!!!

Crazy, where are you stationed at over there. It's looking like I will be PCSing to Landstuhl by mid to late summer.

Cat,

I am in Heidelberg, about an hour from Landstuhl. Have you been to Germany before? If not, you will totally love it. If so, you already know.

Nope, first time going there. Have to meet up so you can show me around and the roads in there. How long will you be there for?

Landstuhl ... Now that brings back memories. BTW, if you are partying with Germans downtown, and manage to injure yourself, the military hospital there may call it an alcohol-related incident that your First Shirt will not appreciate. Or so they tell me ; )

Cat,

I have been here about 7 years and will probably be here another couple at least.

Are you AF or Army?

The m/c licensing is a goat-rope over here, but worth it. The riding is great.

If you have the chance, take a MSF course before you get here. If you have one within 3 years, you are good, but have to redo it every 3 years. That is Army anyway. I am not real sure on USAFE requirements.

Good to see more Mil folks coming together. Im jealous of you guys that get Oconus assignments. I tried to get C-130s at RS and ended up at Altus OK. Cold 1878 please.

Crazy, Army. I have an MSF card that expires in 2011. So, I think I'll update it this summer given I have time. What is needed to get an M/C license there? I already have my license for the states. Anything else I would need?

Cat,

Worse case, you should be good with your 2011 MSF card when you get here this summer. You will need to take another course here next year. They have them often at each of the garrisons. I am a volunteer garrison MSF RiderCoach for the Army,

You have a stateside m/c endorsement already, so you are good there.

When you get here, you have to schedule a 4 hr m/c indoct with licensing, then take a one time written. It is easy, but if you fail it, there is no retest.

Then you have to do a practical demo and since you have a "current" MSF card, they should issue you a license.

Like I said, it is a PITA to say the least.

Hope that "helps".
