Thank you.

That's precisely what I needed.

Apparently they do not understand how their own products work. Lucky they got me teaching them.
Hey EBR, are you listening? http://www.ecmspy.com is where you should look at before giving advice to your customers.

Gunter, you are pretty arrogant...Where's your product offering that will make things better?

After all, since you are the premier expert who can teach the designers a few things, it would be foolish to not use your gift.

By the way, how much work have you done with the DDFI3 and tuning a Helicon engine?

Really, am I? I'm working with DDFI-ECM since 2005, that's longer than any of the various developing companies did so. I ran automated tests on different DDFI for thousands of hours since then, comparing input to output, that I could write a new firmware, not to differ from the current one, within a month. The developers team, founded by me, offered a premium product in July 2007, after two years of research and development, for free. Alas, people apparently weren't mature enough to handle this in a liable way, so unfortunately we had to stop giving the product away in June 2009.

What did you do to help other Buellers make their bike run better in that time?

After all, since you are the premier expert who can teach the designers a few things, it would be foolish to not use your gift.

No problem. Who's paying me for that, and when do the developers come over to Germany? I'm eager to learn who is responsible for that beast, and my colleagues also. Please tell me, did you ever have a look at professional state-of-the-art ECU programming of today? No, you haven't? Well, how could I guess ... Did you never consider there are people earning their living with that kind of stuff? DDFI is stoneage compared to what's happening there. Fortunately stoneage, I have to say, otherwise access to it would never been possible or much more time consuming.

By the way, how much work have you done with the DDFI3 and tuning a Helicon engine?

It's a common misunderstanding that I'm tuning engines. I do not do such things. I'm a toolbuilder, building diagnostic tools, making it possible to get the most of information out of an ECU. And that, my dearest friend, I'm doing pretty well, so I don't have to hide.

Do you have names of Tools you personally build and who are in production now, or do you build in a Team, Are you an embedded SW developer and if yes what languages, or do you put other people to work, Just curious about your background from a professional point of view.

There's some pretty interesting stuff going in the auto industry now.. ie: variable intake tuning, variable camshaft timing, and camshaft profile switching...
Can't imagine having to design a system of this complexity, or tune it...
I'm still amazed when I look at a steam engine locomotive...

PlaTIN, CORUS and PONDAC, to name the three largest. I bet you will never have heard of these, as they are solely inhouse use. In 2008 I changed my job and went to a large telco company, but I keep on doing some microcontroller programming just for hobbyists use. I speak C, C#, Assembler, a handfull of Basics, very few script/shell languages and NewtonScript. And, yes, I like keeping other people busy.

Now you, Mijnheer Hamadi, your background. Just from a professional point of view, of course.

J4B; The EBR site shows that as a race gas number! I would imagine that O2 sensors mean nothing to it.

http://www.ebracing.com/shop/page8.html

Perhaps that explains the lean condition. Your gas wasn't rich enough.

I apologize to J4B, and the Euro tuners. It seems that humility and respect don't count for much around here. you are respected and appreciated, more than you may know. Your actions and comments are most insightful as I learn this new subject.

I'm not a mechanic so this two part question may not be very well stated or even correct.

1. I have been told that retarding the timing at the crank fills the cylinders earlier. Is this true and wouldn't that action move the torque curve down?

2. How many of us really need an 11K RPM motor? I would be more than happy with an 8 or 9K RPM torque monster.

Danny, I believe J4B said he bought the race ECM before they had a distinct part number for the pump gas unit, and that he has been assured he has a map for pump gas.

To all, sorry for the thread drift, but I've one more thing to say OT.

Gunter,

Hey EBR, are you listening? http://www.ecmspy.com is where you should look at before giving advice to your customers.

Yes, you are extremely arrogant.

I, unlike you, have made no claims of expertise. I, unlike you, have not indicated I could tune or develop EFI software, let alone doing it better than anyone else.

I never implied that you were experienced in tuning, or that you claim to be. I asked you:

how much work have you done with the DDFI3 and tuning a Helicon engine?

You have not answered the question. And, yes, what response you did provide is further indication that you are extremely arrogant.

You have implied that you have EFI knowledge surpassing those that were involved in the development of the 1125 platform. That is, in my opinion, very unlikely.

I read your response to Easyrider. Yes, you are extremely arrogant. He has, without question, contributed positively to the 1125 platform. We have not, however, established anything about you.

Now, would you mind answering my original question please? I believe it germane to your level of credibility in this thread, and in this particular area of the forum.

how much work have you done with the DDFI3 and tuning a Helicon engine?

However I believe the tools he has created have been used to great success, not necessarily by him, with DDFI / DDFI-2 / DDFI-3. I for one have used them on a few Helicon engined bikes, plus many more Thunderstorm engined bikes...

I don't tune engines, I wrote that already. You should read more carefully. EcmSpy for Mono is completely working, there was a test on the dyno last Wednesday to fix the latest bugs. This is all done now. The recent version has full capability in reading, writing and logging all ECMs, including DDFI-3. WB-O2 logging is also included, so the megalogs will contain lambda output from optional and/or additional WB-O2 sensors. For those few people needing further access to eeprom data than provided in the UI, we created the required bindefs for the TunerPro application, giving access to more than 500 different variables, tables and maps stored in DDFI-3, still giving them away free of charge, regardless of all effort and money we put into this. My work is done, I created the tool. Using it is someone's other task.

Does this qualify as an answer? Now, you: what have you done to contribute?

So is the software available for use or not? If it is, where's it located? I saw a password protected section on your site the last time I was there, but it's been quite a while. Also, since it's for Mono, does this mean you have a linux version available? I'd rather have that anyways. Gentoo rules!

I think the last 4 digits of the vin just gives the production run number so they can narrow down exactly when it was produced. I think Court's been around long enough to be considered "THE" go-to guy for getting stuff resolved for other Buellers. PM the number to him, I seriously doubt he'd do anything nefarious with it. We don't need it, but it will make it easier for him to resolve your problems.

Thanks.

Good luck sorting out your problems then.

I was simply going to get 4 bikes from the same lot, get 4 ECMS, 4 pipes and 4 air cleaners and send them to 4 of the top tuners in then country and see what happens.

You saved me a shit load of time and I've got research to do anyway . . .

Best of luck.

Hey Court,
I will give you my VIN and you can put a pipe, new ECM and tune it all winter if you would like.
It was worth a shot, although my bike runs gret and all I would like is a little cleaner looking pipe, maybe a bit more rumble. Any good tuners around the Green Bay, Appleton area that anyone knows of in case I get a slip on?
Court, I was just kidding, but hey, let me know if you want my vin.....

I have met the Factory staff b4 harley shot themselves in the foot with Buell and they were all dedicated to the Buell brand and were way more than willing to work with or help out a owner with a problem,Justa4banger have you heard the saying atract bees with honey not sh*t,instead of talking down the product, especially here on a Buell site that most here are very defensive when it comes to Someone talking unkind about Buell in general and if you starting talking down Erik himself you would really start some crap,as I said most are real defensive for the brand and if you can not understand that maybe you need to sell your Buell and get another brand bike that is more suited you .....appearantly Buell isn't.IMO it's like A**holes, everybody has one,and some people are one....
