I think it looks hideous, but I'm a function over form kind of guy, so I'll reserve my judgement of it until I know the answer to these questions: How many seconds did you take off your lap times? How does it handle in the mountains? What kind of reductions in unsprung weight were you able to achieve with that innovative front end design? | ||

To me I don't think it matters what it "adds" to the performance as I think those additions to performance are minimal. (I'm strictly a twisty-street rider). There are plenty of options in the market to get something that has more performance than the Buell if you wanted it. To me its ugly as hell. | ||

Cjr83, Many thanks for the link. I love the pipe. I hate the price. I cannot see spending that much cash for just a bit of noise. If I were going to spend that much, I guess I'd just go for the Buell Racing exhaust. | ||

The radiator is hung out on the front forks?! That is so bad from a motorcycle engineering perspective. You cannot have that much mass ahead of the steering axis. Please, please do not ride it. It's a cool styling exercise, but it is a death trap waiting to happen. | ||

Moosestang, What does racing have to do with it? One would not race a show bike version of the 1125 either? Anyway, Anonymous said Please, please do not ride it not Please, please do not RACE it. However, I would agree with not racing it. Not ride it though, hell no! I'd ride that damned thing all over town. | ||

If the radiator hoses are on either side of the centerline, you have a free steering damper. If they're on one side, you'll ride in circles. Looks interesting, I wouldn't ride it tho. | ||

FYI The mission for the Ronin is as design exercise for a street bike. We are glad this has gotten people talking. The designers at Magpul have always been interested in Buells because of their non conformist side. We were all shocked by the sudden ending of Buell last year and decided a project like the Ronin would be a fitting goodbye by Magpul.  | ||

Keep it up! I think it looks killer. I would have left the rads on the side and bought some of the smaller pod covers from the trojan horse site. I would like to buy a wrecked CR and redo with the magpul fork. It would be a bike strictly for cruising in the evenings. I think it looks great (excluding the radiator) and would love to be able to buy that front end. More options are always better. | ||

MMacchiato, You hit the nail on the head man. What is holding ours bikes back is drag. If one wants to get to their top speed faster w/their current ride all they need to do is shape it like this and wear a tight fitting race suit. (Too much work for me) Magpul, I can't wait to see your end results.  } | ||

What about the Victory Touring bike..Two large gas tanks handing out on the front and sides of the bike? Looks like that Gas weight would cause problems? REX | ||

I rode the Victory Vision touring bike. It's an oversized scooter. Had next to no road feedback and felt like I was steering a bus in turns. The only good part was on the highway it glided and had nice throttle response. Very smooth powerband. Never could get past the issue of feeling like I was going to dump it on regular city streets. Far too bulky and awkward. | ||

I have when my dad comes down to visit we will quite often go out for a 1000km day trip into the mountains and he gets the urge to be a kid again every so often so we swap bikes for a few hundred km or so and we have hit our fair share of winds in all directions. Ya that bat wing fairing wants to sail a bit but not at all over powering. Those bikes to begin with dont have the twitchy steering capibilitys of a sport bike to begin with | ||

Ronin had it's first track day, yesterday. It was run alongside a stock 1125r and a variety riders took turns comparing the two bikes. The Ronin linkage fork preformed great and while we still have lots more testing to do, all the riders preferred this system over the stock 1125r. Our only surprise was the quick discoloration of the Free Spirits exhaust after just the first two laps.  |
