yup. it's a common problem. not sure if it is a dealer-fix-item or not. i noticed it and told the dealer at the 620 mi service. i dropped it off with the low-fuel light lit and the dude saw gas droplets falling from the overflow tube.
haven't seen it happen since. but also it's been cold/cool since, and i havent topped off just before coming home since.

Yep, it's a common problem, fuel vents from the tank. If yours has been "fixed" under warranty, there is a hose re-route that runs it back to the left side passenger peg. Look for a small black hose there. Gas will come out of it occasionally, that's where your smell is coming from. Original routing dropped it off on the exhaust pipe, not a good place for it.

Lots of info here on that issue. The 'fix' is to install the CA-spec carbon canister (under the front seat) which routes fuel/vapor back to the engine instead of letting it drip on the ground. I meant to do it, but my $2 line that I ran from the garage to outside, which I simply plug into the bike when I get home, does the trick for me. Happy wife, happy life!

My Harley smells of gas also. I've gotten to the point of not even noticing it now.

I haven't noticed it on either my 1125 or my Ultra. (but I've only put on about 50-60 miles on the Buell)
