I needed a longer brake hose but rerouted the stock throttle and clutch lines with the convertibars.

I just put in a 100 mile test ride with the raised bars. They make a HUGE difference in comfort. Even though the rise is only 1.2", I can now sit up much higher. Also, the added width gives quite a bit more control for slow speed maneuvers. With 2" more width, the added leverage made it feel like a streetbike finally. The brake lever angle is OK, I would like about 5 degrees more downward angle but it is not uncomfortable at all.

Definitely worth the money and time to install.

The clutch lines are in, so we can fulfill up to 20 of these kits now.

Any news on whether these will fit an XBR yet? I'll be your test dummy if you want to ship some bars to me.

They arrive to the Firebolt test installer this Thursday. He already has the bike stripped and photos taken, so will likely be fairly quick in getting some answers.

Worst case, I'll have come up with a different offset amount. Angles are tough, I'd like to be able to angle them back further, but that causes issues with being able to achieve acceptable lever down angle (i.e. forward lever dip). Stay tuned, I'll post up here as soon as I know.

On a related note, I've gotten some drive time in on them on my 1125R, and make the following observations:

1) It ain't no Uly. The position is still quite sporting. I do have a corbin seat on the bike, which sits a little taller than a stock seat. In a perfect world, perhaps 1/2" higher would be optimal. But that isn't possible without coming rearward more, and that is not really possible with a jogged bar design.

2) In highway cruise mode, where hands are just resting on the tops of the controls and the throttlemeister is turn up, these finally let me be able to truly sit up without having some arm weight.

3) A taller windscreen would be a good thing at higher speeds. As you start to sit up more, you do become a bit more of a wind sail with your arms in a natural position. I personally don't spend a lot of time sitting up out of a crouch above 80 Mph anyway, so that isn't much of an issue.

Overall, I liked them. It's a definite improvement for me, I'll surely be riding the bike more than I have been.

I assume there would be a cost increase to create taller bars for the XB than for the 1125? The cockpit of the XBR seems to be pretty forgiving, while the 1125 cockpit seems to be pretty restrictive. See the LSL Superbike conversion that you sell as an example of the forgiveness of the XB cockpit. I would personally like to see the performance of the Helibars setup. I believe those were 1.5" up and 1" back or something close to that.

For continued discussion on these bars WRT tothe firebolt application, I started a thread over on the XB board, here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/543811.html?1267674650

Has anyone else that purchased these installed them? Please post your impressions here.

I installed my American Sport Bike high bars a while back but the weather here has only recently been nice enough to put any mileage of note on the bike. Here are my impressions and a few pics:

Positive:

- Workmanship is up to American Sport Bike's usual high standards. The bars bolted right on just like OEM parts, and everything I needed was present in the kit. It took me a couple of hours to install the bars but an accomplished mechanical type could probably do it a lot faster.

- The riding position change is subtle but a noticeable improvement, and the slight increase in bar width makes for lower effort steering. The bike's now a bit more pleasant for commuting and low speed riding.

Negative:

- After repositioning per the instructions the throttle cables push against the fairing mount when the bars are pushed fully to the left, and the throttle hangs up a bit. The instructions warned that this might be the case, and the throttle returns to the off position with a tiny bit of convincing, but I'm still not pleased with it. I'm considering picking up some longer throttle cables and running them back to their original locations. Honestly, this probably won't bother most riders but after taking this excellent class I'm a bit anal about low-speed maneuvering.

- The brake and clutch reservoirs knock up against the triple tree and prevent mounting the brake and clutch levers at a low angle. I had difficulty finding a position that I liked, especially for the brake; replacing the stock brake lever & reservoir with a Brembo setup solved the problem for me. I suspect most folks would be fine with the range of motion possible with the stock parts, so YMMV.

- Moving the switches to the new position puts a lot of stress on the wires going through the fairing mount. I really need to take things apart again and cut all the zip ties to see if I can loosen things up a bit. Again, this doesn't affect the ride at all, I'm just worried about breaking a wire some time in the future.

All in all, I'm pleased with the high bars. The riding position is still quite forward and the higher bars don't turn the 1125R into an upright all-day sport-touring rig, but the increase in comfort is enough to be worthwhile in my opinion. I still haven't broken my bad habit of putting too much weight on my wrists during normal commuting, but I'm working on improving my Master Yoda Riding Position skills and the higher bars have helped a bit. It doesn't feel like the gigantic improvement that others have described, but I'm still quite happy with the new position and would recommend the bars for anyone who wants to improve the daily-driver character of their bike.

Update on the 1125 bar risers:
Based on user comments, I've changed the bars slightly by making them 1/2" narrower per side. This makes the wiring routing a little easier, and effectively raises you up just a tiny bit because the bars do still have a -6 degree or so drop angle like the stock ones (built into the triple tree), and you don't use up arm length by reaching wider. They're still about an inch wider per side than the OEM bars, which helps with lower speed steering leverage.

They are also now available for the Firebolt models at the right length for that bike, see http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/543811.html?1267811493#POST1747724

Your bike looks great, Dave. If anyone is interested, I do still have 6 of the discontinued Buell side fairing kits in stock, see http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/17364.html
