i was wondering if anyone knows of any comparisons between the 1125cr and any of the japanese litre bikes (R1,CBR,GSXR). I get people who ask me all the time if i could beat an R1 or whatever, I tell them it's not the reason i bought it( you guys no why i bought it)i was just wondering if anyone saw any numbers or articles. | ||

I "think" the CR will keep up with them on acceleration for awhile. But then they will pull away, and have higher top end. IMO who cares. This bike has the acceleration, AND handles better. I ride the smaller freestyle jetskis. People always see it and say "wow how fast does that thing go?!". Not that fast I tell them. But it has better bottom end, handles better, lighter, and can do tricks. Just saying top ends not everything. And I'll take a light weight bike or ski any day. | ||

I had an 04 GSXR1000. The CR has more low end grunt than the Gixxer. Top end, like others said, is all Gixxer. The CR has around 125-130 hp at the wheel. The Gixxer had 150. So, in a straight line (yawn) the Gixxer will win. It will run away at probably 130+. Off the line it would be close. Maybe 1/8 mile a CR may win but in 1/4 the Gixxer would probably edge it out. No idea, really on that. While I don't have the suspension quite dialed in yet, I think the CR will be better or as good in the twisties. FWIW | ||

I am sure you could, the average R1 rider can't ride. Hell I had no problem keeping up with a Duc on my Blast last summer. | ||

I just tell them that it isn't a cookie-cut bike and it sounds way cooler. The more I think about the Buell bodywork the more it is actually like cookie-cut, but you know what I mean. | ||

Because I use to ride with various sportbike groups. I know one guy with a 98 R1 that might be able to give Rossi a good run, but the rest are better off sticking to the Dunkin Donuts parking lot talking about their chrome swingarms. The Duc I believe was a an older 748R, but he didn't stop to get gas or anything so I was unable to BS with him after. If you think the Blast can't perform, you haven't ridden one. I find it much easier to throw around under 50mph than my 3 fuel in frame bikes. After about 50, the chassis and stock suspension can't take it, and it starts to flex like a fishing rod. | ||

I like to joke and tell people it's not bad for an old mans bike (I'm only 35) I usually get strange looks from that one. Not one bike can out run or be faster than another bike without a RIDER on board so the question should be are your riding abilities able to let you out ride another rider on a R1,ZX10,CBR1000rr, or a GSXR1000. Just my way of thinking. | ||

Sad part is, the meet up was the Dunkin Dounuts, and they would talk about how many holes they drilled in their pipe or how the new Corona stickers add 5hp. Then we would hop on the bikes, hop on the highway, do 90mph for a few exits and and then stop at the shopping mall parking lot. 80% of the rides were like that, hence I don't ride with them much anymore. Once in a while they would have a good ride, but they were usually too short. Meet up 7am, done by 10am. I thought they were joking when they said they were done, I filled up and said I am heading to Lake George (3 hours away). I did it, took some photos, had lunch, headed home, went off roading, got covered in mud, and went back to the ride leaders house to dry out after botching the river crossing  I have never had any complaints from any of the Buell rides I have been on. I try to get the others to join, but they just don't like the idea of riding long enough that the "COLD" light goes off on their dashboards. /end rant. | ||

One thing I love about my new CR in comparison to my XB9S is that I got the increase in horse power that I was wanting without giving up any torque (which I love), in fact, I got even more torque! All smile here! Then again, logging another 100+ miles today may also be a contributing factor.  Happy riding all! BUELL LIVES! | ||

Hey Jdug, I should have a friend on leave in March who bought an '09 XB12 and 1125R which should be waiting on him when he gets home.I just got back from riding a bunch of back roads up to Eureka Springs and then taking 23 back to 16 and home.I live about 15 miles from the pig trail.Let me know when you get this way and if I ain't on the road we will ride! | ||

It hit 50 today and has got into the 40s the last couple of days.I have got at least 100 miles a day for the last three.I have to get my fix The crazy part is all of the sand and gravel on the roads.I have been sliding all over the place.Now if it is around 20 when I want to leave should I still make sure the PSI is around 35 when I leave even though I know the temp will be around 50 later on? | ||

I run 32 or so front and 34 rear when up in Arkansas. I'm just less than 200 in full gear. Up there, the corners are tight, you are going pretty fast and I like that extra bit of grip. If you want to be extra anal about it, get it right for the morning, and check it each gas stop after your break. You can let air out through the day easily enough. I generally don't worry about it. If you are riding relatively quickly, you just can't expect great tire life up there. The roads have a lot of sharp/hard rock in them, and it's great for traction, but hard on tires. I usually get 1100-1200 miles out of a set of Corsa III ridden up there. Honestly, the fronts go about as fast as the rears, at least the shoulder of the front does. More than that -- just count your blessings. |
