I have a simple question where can I get the body armor for the bolt functional jacket? The body armor in question is in the FXRG line, but don't know where that is? The back piece is the one I want to obtain.

I do not have an answer to your question, but I do I have a suggestion. It seems body armour is pretty similar between the brands. how about taking your old back piece to your local sport shop and see if you can find one that sizes up? If you do not have the piece how about taking in the jacket to see if the shop has a back piece that fits? And of course you can always keep checking ebay.

Is the bolt jacket a good riding jacket? My wife bought me the black one for christmas. Does it come with the back in it or just empty? Haven't got it yet?

It is a HD accessory for the FXRG line of HD clothing. $25 CE back pad.

Thanks for the input found it on ebay. Looking forward to seeing if it comes with one or not. Being this will be the first jacket for me that is aimed at protection.

It will not come with one but has a pocket so you can add it if you want.

No back protector in mine new.
I like mine, it is my first armor in jacket too, I have always wore leather jackets without armor.
Hopefully I never get a chance to compare the two for their safety features.
I am sure the armored jacket would win hands down!

FWIW: The FXRG back protector/armor also fits into the Buell Adventure jacket. It didn't come with it, either, but I added it to both jackets. ATGATT.

Just got my bolt jacket in the mail and for $105 dollar shipped to my door I think that I got a great deal and the jacket is very nicely made and is fairly heavy. Now if I can find the pants. I should be set(for protection) besides already having a matching helmet.

I have the FXRG back armor in all my Buell jackets. No problem with fit.

You can also order the armor on-line at harley-davidson.com. Evidently the order goes through your local HD dealer (at least electronically) but the package is shipped to your door.

Which is basically what we were saying Buell should have been doing with clothing and accessories years ago since almost none of the dealers stocked them! Thwarted by the mothership no doubt.

I just got the Bolt jacket too. As far as I can tell, it's a Joe Rocket Atomic 3.0

I was thinking about calling Joe Rocket to see if/where I can get a back pad.

I gave Joe Rocket a call. The part number for the back pad is 159-0024, and MSRP is $19.99. Should be able to get it from any Joe Rocket dealer.

A quick google search returned this...

Cool, glad to know that I can find a few different companies that make these. I wonder what the difference would we besides name and size between the HD brand and the Joe Rocket one impact protection wise.
