>>>It might be like it was before, where anyone can buy race catalog parts so long as those parts don't compromise the emissions system.

That won't happen.

Thank your favorite attorney.

The only race parts from Buell Motorcycle Compay that required a racing license were the ECU (EPA liability) and the factory race exhaust (Harley corporate policy on loud exhausts). The race exhaust policy will likely change; the ECU may pose an issue

Body kits could be a hit. Any chance of seeing an 1125 'Cuda II body kit : )

Oh...and best of luck!

Well, I guess I better run my provisional races this season to get my WERA license.

Guess an 1125CR would compete in heavyweight twins division. Even if I finished dead last, I'd still get a race license.

Already got the competition qualification from Ed Bargy....Anyone figure out how to put a belly pan on a CR? : )

Eslick out were you see or hear that, and what post states its approved????

In light of the wonderful news, I sent Erik a "best of luck" email and quickly received a short reply note from Erik. He seems to be cautiously optimistic and yes, Slick is positively on a Suzuki for 2010.

Go Erik!
Best of turns with EB Racing!

">>>So, could we see a Buell in WSB ?

Yes "

Where did the "yes" come from? I don't think the 1125R has ever been submitted to WSB for homologation approval.

Sounds like the new operation will be more like a NASCAR style race car workshop, or Harris in the UK.

Any idea who's financing it?

You know what I still think would be a cool idea? EBR and Moto2! Think of it, no need at all for ANY Harley involvement because it uses a spec engine (currently Honda, but I believe it goes for bidding every couple of years).

Now Erik could apply his knowledge of frames and suspensions without worry about the engine. As for mass centralization, there really isn't a more compact engine than an IL4 done right. Picture that in a Fuel-in-Frame EBR creation with ZTL2, etc.

I know I'm just dreaming, but it would be a great way to get involved in an international racing series and PROVE his ideas on the world stage.

Only 33% of our sales have been Harley so far this month, the rest are all Buell! And we are having a month that is on target for Harley sales.

Trailer of 6 just came back from Missouri so percentages going to get even more slanted Buell by turkey day. All Loki too.

Plus Buell sent me two additional 1125CR’s I did not think I was getting.

We've also been ordering side fairing lowers like no tomorrow for people, I think six sets this week alone.

So High Country should be fertile ground for Erik to make sales of go-fast zoom-zoom parts.

So wait just a minute.

H-D sez to EB: "We're giving you a pot of money to spend to go racing, but if you want to build streetbikes to sell for profit, to MAKE money---no dice."

I'm confused. Somebody help me out here.

(Oh, and by the way... Go Buell! Kick ass like a mo-fo).

:-)

But if HD needs frames, engine parts, forks, shocks, etc., to supply for customer 1125 bikes, they might be able to source them through Buell. Buell could hold the contract with Rotax to assure parts availability. They could continue to get frames made from the U.S. firm that makes them, supplying them to HD when HD needed them to service customer bikes. Like most postings on this topic, that's total speculation, but there is a business case to be made for it.

parts are going to be sold,

no dought, no busnis can hold out long with out some revenue, investors money caries only so far.

a WSB racer.. could be, would love to see that, racing that level needs a big budget.

i know Yahama GP is very glad with Fiat, i have no idea iff we would see Yahama in MotorGP with out Fiat at thise moment.
( Yahama is the first time there exsitance in the red )
but they wil keep racing and developing because they need to.

i think the Erik Buell Racing compagny will hold up there own pants,
so race bikes and parts need to be sold

barracuda retro fit body work would be a best seller ; )

And like the only American bike in the field would have much trouble bringing in sponsors....

I don't think they will have a problem with money.

So the release says it will be based in East Troy... At the existing factory? To maybe keep the production facility available? For future ramping up of production?

Fingers crossed...

I would have thought Eslick signed a deal with RMR. RMR signed with Suzuki?

That's how it happened.

From www.richiemorrisracing.com --

20 November 2009 - Richie Morris Racing (RMR) is pleased to announce that Danny Eslick will race a Suzuki GSX-R600 in the 2010 AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike series. The deal was confirmed yesterday at the GEICO corporate offices in Washington D.C.

“I would like to start by thanking GEICO for their continued confidence in RMR,” said Richie Morris. “Since the October morning when I watched a video in Shelly Rossmeyer’s office announcing the end of Buell Motorcycle Company, I have been searching for the best motorcycle to replace the Buell 1125R and provide results on and off the track for GEICO. I think that the Suzuki GSX-R600’s results last season speak for themselves regarding on-track performance. So obviously, we are excited and looking forward to seeing Danny battle up front in 2010. And I would like to add my best wishes to all my friends who worked at Buell in East Troy.”

Last year’s Daytona SportBike Championship-winning RMR team will remain intact with Barry McMahan as Crew Chief and Mike Earnhardt as Engine Builder.

“I started out racing a Suzuki when I turned Pro,” said Eslick. “I told Richie as long as I have Barry and the guys from last season, I’m good to go. It should be a great show for the fans.”

GEICO Powersports will continue its contractual relationship with RMR through the 2011 season with an option on 2012. Bryan Knipp of GEICO marketing said, “The RMR team is full of talent, both on and off the bike. GEICO Powersports is proud to be partners with such a great group of people and very excited for the 2010 season.”

The Buell buildings are both leased from the real estate developer who owns them. Sounds like Erik is leasing part of one of the buildings; they are both available after 12/18 I think.
