Ya I'm with you on that.. I don't like to buy stuff from the dealer I work at and I get stuff at cost plus 10%.

this stuff isn't rare for the most Harley just wants it all out of there hands and in the dealers hands.

Just sayin if you know someone on the inside get them ordering this stuff for you cuz the cost for the dealer is next to nothing.

Its kind of like knowing your credit score gives you some room to haggles price.

Relax on the GPS.

It's the Quest I unit, you have to reload software if you go out of your region, it's not nationwide.

Hell, it's not even US. It's the HDI (European) version. I don't know if you can change the software *completely* in an old unit like this or not...

The buttonhead torx screws mentioned above are the screws used to attach the GPS bracket to the switch housing, they're included in the GPS kit. Looks like they're clearing out spare replacement parts as well as whole kits.

OK, I have called a dozen different HD/Buell dealers and no one seemed to know anything about this list. Clint from High Country was really helpful he was Out of Stock on everything I wanted and was aware of this list. He then crosschecked every part I wanted across the country and everyone I have called thus far that has the parts I want isn't discounting anything.

Can we compile a list of dealers that ARE selling their Buell stock at discounted prices?

It's my day off today. When at work I do vehicle sales and do not access the e-mail that BadWEB sends these to, my home address.

Sorry I did not see this until this morning. I was at work at Wed 6:00am and until 8:30 last night helping with an organizational meeting the HOG chptr held for a Toy Run to give a Christmas party for a local Nat Guard unit whose parents are deployed.

I know Zac in parts (a BadWEBer) spent all day Wednesday fielding questions and calling our regulars about what is available. Most things on the list were ordered in some quantity or another Wednesday morning. But alas, like the riding gear sale, many orders are going un-filled as dealers all over jumped on this.

I tried to be clear to have people call the dealership on any parts interested, many have. I did not suggest a PM would get a response, sorry, part sales are just not set up this way for us. We try to be more hands-on and personal in our support not a low price, high volume discounter.

Finally, if you are a customer of High Country I apologize that you didn't get a call Wed night or Thursday morning, but we ran out of parts before we ran out of people to call. We are at Winter staff levels which means one parts guy for most of the day and store walk-ins get precedence. Discounts are nice for buyer, but as a store, we make too little money at these prices and could not justify bringing people in to do more marketing of this special offering.

Call the general store number and ask for parts 303.833.6777
I don't recall the direct number for parts.

There may be money that HD has allocated to divest themselves of Buell, but it isn't necessarily coming to the dealers.

We have the same dealer incentives on the XBs and 1125s as every other dealer.

On gear, we bought long on Buell WAY before any of this stuff went on and then bought long AGAIN on this stuff before the massive discounts went on.

We have been replenished by our suppliers for Buell goods, but not at radical discount prices. We are receiving no dealer incentives on Buell merchandise, and we are on the hook for the price WE paid for the merchandise.

We will continue to sell the goods we have while they are available at prices that allow us to recoup our costs plus make a little profit.

There may be $70M allocated for "divesting expenses" but it isn't necessarily flowing down to the dealers.

HD screwed pro-Buell dealers by slashing the prices without paying US for the difference in our cost vs. the prices charged.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Some here could benefit from understanding how a dealership buys and sells parts, and makes a profit in order to stay in business. I know there is a lot of hostility aimed towards dealers in general here by some, and that is unrealistic because we are nothing more than businesses who tried to sell a product you liked, and to do so we had to make a profit. Welcome to America, capitalism and free enterprise.

Conversely, I can whole heartedly understand the emotion of Harley shutting down Buell and the further understand the anger over how some marginal Harley dealers treated Buell customers and the product.

Given those categories, please consider my position towards some of the following. I could be wrong on some of this, or all of it, but I wouldn't like it.

Rockstar wrote:
So basically this stuff needs 2 be in stock at your deal.

Andym wrote:
What's the deal with these parts? Is HD offering a rebate to the dealers or something? My dealer said all of the parts I inquired about are big sellers for him and the best he can do is my standard 15% discount...

The discount was offered as an incentive to buy up inventory of accessories that are probably slow movers and will be discontinued by Harley. Inventory dealers already have of these parts are not being reimbursed so of course a given dealer holding them will want to recoup most of his sunk cost before buying more of the same.

Cafefun wrote:
I looked at the price sheet from Buell and your dealer is full of BS ..

The price list on the order process system won't reflect the new price until an update in December. If they did not read an obscure announcement, they would not know about the situation. Since most Buell dealers see little in the way of service work or accessory sales (most only see warranty work after the sale) it si reasonable to assume those dealers main focus is not Buell announcements especially in light of the cancellation of the product.

Mmcustoms wrote:
Are there any dealers on here that can get us any of these parts with these discounts my dealer is still charging full price

We took care of our own first. Why wouldn't we. They have been great customers, word of mouth from them about us has gotten us tremendous success. They have paid a fair price for, what I've read here, is superior service.

The discount was offered as an incentive to buy more inventory of select accessories that are probably slow movers and will be discontinued by Harley. Inventory that dealers already have of these parts are not being reimbursed so of course a given dealer holding them will want to recoup most of his sunk cost before buying more of the same.

Swamp2 wrote:
The dealers were given a lot of room to move. But they don't have to - it's an opportunity for them to make more margin if they're so inclined.

Realize if the dealer has the parts in inventory, he paid full wholesale for it, he does not get a credit back if selling below retail. Each dealer is also a business unto itself. Harley cannot dictate much other than what is in the dealer license agreement. How a given dealer makes his money is his business.

Avc8130 wrote:
What does it matter? If you WANT the parts, you better get out and pay what the dealers WANT for them...because when they are gone...they are GONE. MSRP on most Buell items was a fair a week ago and it still is today.

+++1+++ to Avc8130, he gets it

But then he goes on to say:
See...that is EXACTLY what I figured would happen. Dealers aren't dumb. They see these announcements and they jump in and buy everything. Then they throw it on Ebay for $$ to get the national audience.

All the parts we ordered were pre-paid for customers. Nothing went on eBay. Orders started seeing parts obsolete BEFORE we stopped ordering more as our regular customers were being called during the day with offers on listed parts. How could these parts be offered up on eBay when they haven't even chipped yet?

Any dealer who has staff to order these parts, create an eBay listing, and sell at these kind of slim margins must be using volunteers in staff positions because it is amoney loosing proposition.

Oldog wrote:
Harley support for our bikes, implying this is a sign of no support.

How is that?
They sell accessories (not service parts) that have been over stocked and seen little demand, at bargain prices to give dealers that have worked hard to support the Buell brand the opportunity to make a few dollars and offer their regular customers a bargain.

Dsmitty wrote:
WOW Ya'll should see the discount the dealers are getting this stuff at 75% of their cost so talk them down cuz the can come way down on this stuff.

Good luck with that. The laws of Supply & Demand apply. Many Buell dealers have been sitting on ample inventory of bikes and parts before 15Oct that finance costs to floor them lost them money. Why would they order more parts at cost and turn around and sell them for no profit.

Grow up. This is business and dealers need to make a profit. That too few made sufficient profits sellign Buells, in part, is how we got to this tragic shutdown situation.

If they are signing the transition agreement to support Buell for seven years, these are dealers committed to the brand and they deserve your support, and the right to make a profit. I have had no qualms about discontinuing the call from a caller trying to get me to drop my listed price for bikes or parts when they tell me they can go half way across the country to save $500 on the same bike.

Go do it. My price is what i need to charge to run my business. I have a driver with our race trailer 700 miles away, two states, getting six more 1125's to sell based on this pricing, four of which are pre-sold.

Prowler wrote:
As long as the dealers think that there is some panic buying going on (i.e. people think this stuff will not be available anymore), they have ZERO incentive to mark down the prices at all. Most the dealers I called seemed to think that they should be charging MORE than retail for this stuff because it will be so "rare". The 75% off is just a LOT more money in their pockets and I personally will NOT buy this stuff knowing that they are pocketing 300%-400% profit on this stuff.

Realize if the dealer has the parts in inventory, he paid full wholesale for it, he does not get a credit back if selling below retail. Each dealer is also a business unto itself. It appears to me you only think you know how much a dealer makes in profit on a sale of some Traction grips or a tailbag, but to me it is obvious that you do not.

WOW there Jammin didn't mean to make ya get a flustered.: ) But I am all grown up and like I said "IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE ON THE INSIDE PICK SOME OF THIS STUFF UP" sorry to upset ya there bud. See I do have some one so I was able to pick up alot of stuff at damn close to the 75% off the dealers are getting. Pickin up a lil P&A at a great price isn't going to make the situation any better or worse.

Just tryn to tell the people that may have the same luck I did to get on it and see what they can get at a great price.

And discounting P&A has and had nothing to do with the shutdown. Poor managment of a GREAT product is what lead to where we are now.

And Jammin you write "We took care of our own why wouldn't we" Again all I was getting at was if you got a buddy that works for a dealer which I do because I also work in a dealership to see if they can help you out on some great deals. And Again sorry to upset you : )

We actually bypassed HD completely and went directly to the manufacturer of the new Buell shirts and ordered more because the demand for the shirts was there.

We wanted to support our customers, locally and nationally, who we knew wanted the shirts. We knew that beyond a particular point, the shirts would be unavailable regardless of desire because HD would pull the licensing agreement from the manufacturers.

While the licensing agreement was good, we went in the tank for more shirts AT THE MANUFACTURER'S PRICE. HD wouldn't give us a discount on those shirt (they aren't giving us any discounts on what we have).

We HAVE to make money on what we bought. It's the way we stay in business.

What most folks don't understand is that a dealership has a line of credit. Every time they buy a bike, a part, or a piece of clothing there is an interest that accrues on that expenditure until the item is sold and the loan repaid.

We have to build in enough profit to pay off the interest and make enough money to keep the lights on.

Please don't begrudge us that. We are trying to provide YOU guys goods that you want.

Dsmitty, sorry. I have just been getting so much attitude from (likely) newbies to Buell since the bargain pricing thing has ascended down on all of us that I felt compelled to get defensive. I contain it most times but let me just say that I am not meeting any of this attitude in the store face-to-face.

We have a lot of passion for Buell and make enormous efforts to keep it going, spread it around, and grow it in our customer base. Sometimes the crap I see written here from people who some may very well pull down 6-figure incomes begrudging a dealer trying to make a buck just set me up for over reaction I guess.

To the many of you who are ardent and avid Buell supporters - Thank you.

Please focus on, and continue to share your perspective at dealers or with other riders to keep us together. That is what we are doing at High Country Buell/H-D.

And we don't do this by slamming Harley riders or our employees that don't get this whole Buell thing. Not letting the poor il-fated decision in a boardroom in Milwaukee tear us apart is how we get through this.

No harm done Jammin. I can imagine the stress with the whole situation.

And def well said on the poor il-fated decision. The man ie (Harley) has no clue what they will miss with not letting Buell thrive and shutting her down.

But as long as we all keep doing what we do Buell will live on and thrive through everyone on Badweb and anyone else lucky enough to get in the saddle of one of these bikes.

I am not going to argue here my point was that traction grips (on the list) are in expensive and quite good, they are being discontinued, that is a service item for me I am getting ready to change the ones on my 1125R
I am Sorry if YOU took exception to my comments But I have seen this kind of thing before,

HD can still get frames for tubers Know that? 2700.00$ Delivery Unknown

I understand that dealers have to make a profit, and need to get rid of things that sit

I have concerns that HD will FAIL to support my bikes, I am going to have to buy a couple of sets of traction grips, lucky they are durable...

My biggest concerns are for my 1125
My X1 is powered by a sportster motor, worst case buy a sportster remove all of the useless chrome crap and and part the bike and motor out for parts for the X1

on another note jewels, I hate it that dealers put forth the effort and the money to support the brand and have recieved the same poor support from HD because of what may have been "politics" inside the
"FAG-Ship" ..... In the end a raw deal for folks that may have eventualy bought hd

personaly I wish my local HD dealer was multy line, I like doing business with them.

Me too. One of my three 1125r will probably go out of warranty while waiting for over a month for replacements parts on the lift at the dealer.

Over the course of two years and 40,000 miles, the bike as probably spent nearly 3 months of it's life at the shop... perhaps more.

Hey, I realize these things are temperamental and need lots of TLC. I'm fine with that. But, running the bike out of warranty by not supplying parts I'm NOT happy with.

No one told me that -- it was a sarcastic remark based on the fact the ONLY PART I NEED to get my track bike running is the one that I can't just harvest from one of my OTHER TWO bikes for the time being, and it's been on BO for a month now.

Meanwhile, get me a current revision ECM for a 2008 1125r.

I really don't care what HD says -- what they do is important. When the ECM shows up (WTF, they don't stock these?) I'll be a happy camper and post up.

My bike has been on the lift since Nov 1 waiting... ECMs aren't due until December, so I'm told.

Mis-quoted lower side fairing price in earlier post.

I was informed by my parts manager I mis-quoted, it is $339 plus applicable taxes. Still unbelievable good value for those so inclined.

It is interesting you mention none went to Ebay. Just a day after the list was published on Badweb a handful of Select Seats and Traction Grips that weren't NORMALLY on Ebay. The seller id's were consistent with HD dealerships.

I brought the bike home from the dealer today. Kinda sad... it's in pieces with no ECM and all of the other parts that had to be removed to do the diagnosis in a box.

In theory, I'll get a new ECM some time in December. In reality, I figure it's the chance I've needed to pull the bike apart and build that lightweight sub frame I've been wanting to do, replace the stock battery with a carbon speed lightweight one, "cheese grater" all the guards and non-critical bits on the bike, get the forks serviced, and install a new FMF exhaust.

If the new ECM never comes, I'll just move all the goodies to the 09 I just bought and run that next year as my track day bike.

I've also got some shenanigans planned to just outright fool the ECM into thinking the motor is running at 200F all the time as a backup.

Basically, I'm taking the position that owning one of these is to expect NOTHING in support from HD, and be pleasantly surprised if they do come through.
