I just returned from getting the ECM flashed on my 09 1125R

This is the current version: M3HUS142, firmware BUE2D231 09-30-09

The 152 flash is for the CR.

Was this flash to correct the "surging" some people have had? My dealer told me about this flash today and said they would flash my '09 when I bring it in for the 600 mile maint.

I'm probably getting my numbers mixed in my head, but I don't think I had heard of the '142' you mentioned. 131, 141, 152 ... I'd heard of those.

Good to know the 152 is only a CR item, which means I'll likely be asking for the R version you got when I take mine in for its first service. What version did you come from prior to this upgrade - Any big changes?

I don't have enough miles to tell yet, but it did seem to run smoother. And the tach needle didn't seem to vibrate.

131 & 141 are from June I believe. 142 & 152 appear to be the most current.

That connection you just made seems logical. The R went from 131 to 142. The CR went from 141 to 152. For me, not knowing the R and CR were different confused the issue. Like I've said from the beginning, my 131 (R) runs great, but I have no comparatives. Thanks Tpoppa!

Tpoppa, I'm stalking you ; ) Okay, not really - Just interested to know your thoughts on your new 142 (R model) update - Or anyone else running #142 for that matter.

Mine's going in for its initial servicing soon, and I'll update it then if needed. My 131 version runs amazingly well, but since it's the only one I've ridden, I can't compare.

Since it's not broken, I don't generally fix it. But if 142 is better (and where/how so?), I like to stay current. Thanks folks!

I went from 12Z to 142, so I can't compare to 131. I rode 400+ miles of twisties yesterday. with the 142 flash:

--It runs a few degrees cooler,
--less vibes. It feels smoother, and the tach needle doesn't vibrate as much
--no surging to speak of
--It pulls HARD

142 is solid.

I went from 131 to 142 on Friday. Have about 660 miles on 131 and 200 on 142. The new flash is a huge improvement and that says a lot. I had ZERO, absolutely NO issues with 131. Previous to 142, I wasn't sure it could get much better. Could be my imagination, but the exhaust note sounds a little tighter and meatier. YMMV. Get flashed.

Tpoppa, thanks man. Since 1324 came off the same version (131) that I'm on, and also very pleased with it, knowing his input on 142 is quite helpful. It's hard to imagine this thing pulling any harder, but I can live with that! I finally crossed 600 miles today, so I got to try above 7.5K - Holy s**t Batman! I'm at 625 miles now, so I'll have the 142 done at its servicing this week. Thanks a ton guys.

How do you tell what flash you have?

I'm so confused. I got my bike Thursday. They forgot to inspect it so I was back at the dealer today. I asked what flash was on it and they told me b3pus107. I searched and can find nothing like that here. Perhaps the B in front should have been an M but 107? The bike is an 09 CR.

If you have ECMSpy, you can read the firmware version. If not, the dealer can tell you.

was there a 107 version? They replaced the ECM before I got the bike. Maybe it was an old ECM and it was never updated? The3y claim it's the "latest" but this was the only Buell they had in stock when the announcement was made. The tech today diudn't even kbow how to check the flash.

Gotlime, I'd have some doubts about that tech ... Not being critical, but inability to check flash version probably makes it pretty difficult to know how to install the latest and greatest.

My dealer (also my neighbor) just loaded mine on his trailer to take back to Joplin for its first servicing. I'll send a note to the service department to put the 142 on there while they have it.

I do have my doubts. That's why I hijacked this thread. ; )

But lets say it is an old flash. Do I just call another dealer and ask them to update my bike (for free)? The dealer I bought from us 50 miles from me and like i said had one Buell in stock.

this is the latest flash and people who would like to adjust there fuell or change there exhaust, should not update. Nobody in the world is able to do anything with the ecm..

We are working on it but it can take some time..

Does anyone have an issue date on the latest flash? I picked up my bike on 10/30. Western Reserve said it had all updates to that point.

I just got mine back home after having the latest (R = 142) put on. I came from 131 which was also very good. I only managed 25 miles, about 22 of which were traffic-free, very spirited.

First impressions - I like it! It pulls damn hard, and you best be laying on the tank if you want to keep the front down. I'll of course continue my own testing tomorrow!!

Is there a different flash for different year bikes?? I just went to have it done and was told it was M3HUs062, my bike is a 2008 but I haven't seen this code mentioned. They said this was the only one available.

I do believe the R version flash applies equally to all the R bikes, and the CR version flash applies equally to all CR bikes. That said, I'm still learning myself - So don't go chiseling that into stone until some veterans confirm.

Sounds like how mine was running... they showed me on the screen that M3HUS062 was the latest (only) scan available for my bike. But the bike done just before mine was an 09CR and it got the 142

I just had my 2009 1125R Reflashed (#142) at the dealer....30 min total & no-charge!
(High Country Buell, Fredrick CO)
The 40 min ride home was smooth, but here's the IMPORTANT difference:
Now the bike is running a little RICHER, which these 1125's need to run cooler.
Using the onboard diag (Toggle + Mode then key to Park) to check the Air/Fuel/Voltage:
(100 is base. Less is Lean; More is Rich.)
BEFORE
Front 99 Rear 94
AFTER
Front 110 Rear 100

Get Flashed...

It's not richer folks...it's called developing/perfecting a tune that meets epa, albeit, a little late but welcome just the same.

Post facts please.

But is my interpretation of the numbers not correct?? It may be all for a perfected epa tune, but if the AFV # is above 100 then it's rich....If below 100 then lean.
Correct if I'm wrong.

Tbolt, if your dealer put 142 (the R version) on a CR which should get 152, then I might not trust them to know what goes where.

My 131 version was AFV F/100 and R/105 in Diags. Since updating to 142, it's 100/100. Not sure it matters, but it runs NICE!

It may have been the 152... I just remember that it was a CR and I recognized the number from posts on here. I do not however recognize the one they put on mine (M3HUS062), has anybody else gotten this one? Is it correct?

TBolt, that has to be an older version, judging only by the 062 portion ... It's the first I've seen it, but I'm an 1125 newbie.

Here's what I told my dealer to load on my 09R >> M3HUS142 (Firmware, BUE2D231 09-30-09). I got that from Tpoppa's 11/6 post.

Reddoggk, you have the relationship backwards for the AFV. Lower than 100 is rich, and higher than 100 is lean. Or so it is according to the program in the area where it "Learns".

Look at the AFV number as a multiplier. At an AFV of 100. The program multiplies every cell of the fuel map by 100% (1.00). In this case there would be zero change to the fuel map. If the AFV is 95, then every cell in the fuel map is multiplied by 95% (.95). This lowers the fueling for each cell of the entire map, front or rear in the case of the 1125. If the AFV is 105, then the entire fuel map is multiplied by 105% (1.05). This increases fueling for that particular map.

I hope that helps.

I think the AFV confusion is similar to some of the forced induction tuning threads I've found myself in at car forums. If it's running lean, then the map multiplier will richen it up. So some would say a AFV R/105 means rich, some would say it meant lean.

It kind of depends on which way you're looking it. I think we can all agree that 100 = No changes, 95 = Took a little fuel out, and 105 = Put a bit extra fuel in. And yes, a static multiplier (.95 or 1.05 in these examples) affects the entire map.

But back to the newest 142 (R) flash. I managed another 45 miles on mine today. As good as I thought its predecessor (131) was, this flash is better all around. Pulls harder, smoother down low, even sounds better. Sound could be imagination though ...
