I like the DHM rear sliders / stand spools, but was thinking of just swapping out the factory ones w/ ones a bit more "beefy".

I saw some at t-rex racing (iirc) that looked good and were inexpensive.

Anyone done this? I like the "v" in the bigger spools, vs the factory dinky ones.

It is t-rex-racing: (mods go ahead and remove if that's a problem - don't think they are sponsors)

They have 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm - anyone know which would be a drop in fit? Or another alternative that would work?

thx guys!

Thx Keef! It was your post that got me looking at the stands... then i saw the spools too!

I have a pitbull that i need to stretch a smidge to work better w/ my R.

If you have them i'd love to see pics of the slider/spools, and the front wheel stand. That's probably the next thing i'll get. How was shipping $?

Appreciate the feedback and info!!

No, they are 6mm (x 1.0), not 8. I have one of the screws in my pocket right now.

I got Iron Horse spools to replace the originals - the Buell's don't have an inner lip, so the stand can move over and scrape the swingarm. Don't ask me how I know this. : (

Is it possible to fit these on an '08 swing arm?

Kevin - yeah i found out the hard way... my too tight PB stand didn't help.

So - who/where are these Iron horse spools?

And dumb q #2 for today - 6mm vs 8mm - is it the actual screw size, or the hex head you use to tighten it? Then i could confirm... I'm a bit slow today...

hehehe - thx guys!

i guess you could have the bosses welded to your swing arm though that would entail lot of work and a refinish for the swingarm

Thx Keef! any close ups of the spools on it? What are they made of and Is the surface flat to mount spool to?

Did the rear stand need to be stretched to fit OK or work out of box on the CR?

Good lookin' bike!

stands are for 1125's ..just take the old ones off and put theirs on only 12.50 a pair and 109.90 for front and rear stands. They bolt together so can be disassembled for transport or storage.

I also got some spray on rubberizing pain and coated the upper part of the stand that goes under the spools..

I got mine from a local vendor who is not a site sponsor, so I guess I can't say.

6mm x 1.0 is the actual thread size and pitch - this is true for SAE fasteners as well. I think it was a 5mm head, but don't quote me.

Maybe I'll ping Al at American Sport Bike. If he carry's the TRex products i'd rather give him the $.

But he also sells the Pitbull stands... not sure how that would work out.

anyway i'm curious about the spools you got Kevin - i'm going to shoot you a PM so you can tell me the uber secret vendor... lol.

On those T-Rex spools - see how they begin to taper immediately from the inside edge? You need to be sure that they have enough standoff to prevent the stand ears from hitting the swingarm. It's not clear from the photo that those do.

Gbackus, sorry, but there's no boss to mount them to like the 09/10 model. The 08 can be modified to use spools, but you have to drill holes in the swingarm. This is assuming you want to change your tire. If you just want crash protection, look for Dark Horse Moto.
