It took less than 2 weeks for me to put the first 620 miles on my 09R. I've owned five H-D big twins, and another Buell (X1) before this bike. But this is the first bike that I literally cannot stay off of. I can hear it calling my name right now ... But no go.

I crossed 620 miles today, so my dealer will take it back for first servicing. I usually do my own, but it was negotiated upfront and I want the newest flash (142 vs my 131) put on. Knock on wood, the bike has been flawless since it showed up two weeks ago.

Not sure how long it will take them to come get it, finish the job, and bring it back to my house - But I know I'll miss the thing! The jump from 6K to 7.5K at 300 miles was eye-opening. The jump from 7.5K to redline today at 600 miles was just amazing.

I probably should have packed a change of pants, but I think they'll come clean in the wash. The bike's insane, in all the right ways. Not sure why I'm rambling about it, but I was planning on finding a receptive and forgiving audience. Ride safely folks!

Tell the wife and kids you love them every time you see them.
You're gonna be gone a lot.

You should try chipotlaway for cleaning your underwear.

That link killed me - Thanks for the laugh. I've ridden the bike about 7 times, usually a couple of hours at a pop. My wife did comment today that I didn't ride my Springer ('03 FXSTS) that much in the first year I had it. She got that one right!

The kids (7 & 4) love this bike too. I've washed it a couple of times and they are right there helping out. My adult daughter (21) mentioned getting her motorcycle license after I got this thing. Ummm ... Maybe something smaller Sweety?

I'm in my home office now looking at the trailer that my bike is now loaded in. Hopefully it will be back in a few days. I'm going to miss it, but I guess it's time I got some real work done. It's never killed me before, so here goes ; )

Mill,

I had to schedule my service so I had over 750 miles before it got to the dealer. I too did all my miles in a week and a half. I dropped my R off but still have my VROD and 1948 Chief to ride. Oh yeah I rented a Ultra Classic this weekend to see what the big mother ship would be like.

Its been two days and I am in serious withdrawal. One or two more days to go. Then I have to find someone to take me to the dealer. If not I will walk its only 45 miles.

That's funny - Walk for 45 miles. Might want to wear some comfy shoes for that! I guess I would be a little over the top to stay up all night looking out my office window to make sure nobody tries to bust the lock on that trailer across the street. He leaves for work (the dealership) at just after 6AM, so I'd only have to stay awake another 8 hours ... Okay, I'll risk it and just get some sleep!

why drop the bike at the dealer for an oil change and a look over? did 180 miles the afternoon i got mine(Fri) and then did the service in my friend's garage. loaded the bike up the next morning (Sat)with my gear and did Atlanta to home in Louisiana and was real happy when i got past the break-in limits and all the on-off throttle i was doing for break-in. Serviced the bike again the next day(Sun) with oil change and general going over and touching fasteners and cleaning. Make sure you check the suspension setting as all of mine were way off and the front forks were set differently. Miles of smiles and lots of fun so far. 2 documented iron butts, 2 trips to Indy for the MotoGp, a couple of IMS, business trips, and lots more of messing around. of the bikes i have that are legal, the 11125r has been first choice since i got it! : ) HAVE FUN!!

Smoke, I can do oil changes and most everything else the dealer can do ... Other than get and load the newest 142 ECM flash. Not to mention it was part of the fire-sale deal. Besides, they come to my house and put it in an enclosed trailer for the 70-mile journey. They bring it back to my home when they're done. Now that's what I call Service - So I'm unlikely to take a pass on that! It's weird not seeing the bike in the garage ... Who knew one could get so attached in just two weeks?!

Update - I wasn't without the bike long. They brought it back home and rolled it into my garage a couple of hours ago - Less than 24 hours after loading it in the dealer's trailer last night. I of course had to take it out and check their work!

Only 25 miles, but I do like the newer 142 flash. My previous 131 was already good, but this does pull harder. It also sounds a bit different/better at idle, but that could be my imagination. Synthetic, check. Newest flash, check. Ran great!

Maybe I won't be getting much real work done tomorrow after all ...

Millemium I feel you. I've rode metric bikes my whole life, but the 1125R is the first bike that actually makes me giddy when I think about riding it. I'm right at 600 miles now and can't wait to whack this thing open...up to the posted speed limit of course. I had two co-workers looking to buy one of these because of the prices, but after the first week of riding, I strongly urged them to pick something up a little smaller because they have no riding experience. Thank you Mr. Buell for designing this asphalt rippling RAPED APE!

I have 540 miles on my 09' CR and it saw redline numerous times and yesterday the speedo read 155 at 10k rpm's. I figure I might be able to hit 160 if I can hang on to thing.
