What is the deal with my rear brake? With modest pressure on it, it squeals. Not a high pitched squeal either, it sounds like a make truck coming to a stop. My xb would just lock up if I applied to much pressure, but it never made a sound.

Anyone else have this annoying noise? I know a lot of people don't use the rear brake, but I always try to use both.

Mine does it first thing in the morning. I attributed it to cold start enrichment leftovers onto the rotor. It goes away after a little bit.
I have been meaning to redirect the exhaust at startup to see if this helps.

If yours is doing it all the time you might take and round off the corners of the brake pads. That was an old time car fix.

The 1125r exhaust contains moisture in it which does tend to make the rear brake squeal.

A couple of thoughts:

1. Use the rear brake harder once the bike warms up to scrub it in.

2. Only use the rear brake for holding on a hill and slow-speed parking lot maneuvers. You will find the front brake, with a little practice, is a vastly superior tool for setting vehicle speed, anyway.

Yes its the vapor coming from stock exhaust that causes this issue. I leave for work in the morning at 5:30 am. Only does it when cold with a lot of moisture. I thought there was a real big issue but that is whats happening. It goes away during the ride.

I'm thinking about getting some 45 degree slip on exhaust elbows to put on which will cure the issue.

Will do. I work in the truck parts industry. So I constantly look for parts and have sources that can direct me to finding something it would probably be somewhat customized but not to bad. Someone with a chop saw should be able to handle.

Diddo on the slip on exhaust tips. I'm surprised there aren't any just for the 1125's.

Thanks for the info on the exhaust. I'm going to look around for some tips as well.

This is a little irritating design issue. The jap bikes just started doing underslung exhaust and at least routed the fumes away from the rotor.

The exhaust pointing at the brake disc is one of the parts of passing the EPA noise.
The disc is the final "baffle" breaking up the sound pulses.

That and a few other tricks is why the "ugly sheep's bladder" is legal and a good power maker too.
Another of the many engineering marvels on/in this bike. <kool-aid

Oh yeah, with my Drummer(doesn't blow on disc) mine squeaks sometimes, nothing predictable.
