I am installing heated grips and I realized something: the right control is prepped for a heated grip switch. Under the little rectangle is a slot for some type of slider switch. The inside of the control already has the mounting in place. Does anyone know the manufacturer of this, or what switch fits? It would make for a very nice factory style install for much less than the 2008+ Uly switch gear. ac | ||

I can't answer your / but I will say I went with the gerbins heated gloves awhile back and would never waste my time with heated grips again as the don't warm the backs of your fingers or hand where the gloves warm ever where. and i can use them on all my bikes | ||

I have had heated grips on EVERY bike I have owned. I do not use them to keep my hands warm when it is 20 degrees out. Instead I use them for when I am "caught" in the cool evenings of spring and fall. ac | ||

Just saying you would be farther ahead trying the gloves once you do, heated grips will be a thing of the past. but you are probable fine but like today I did 25 miles and its 39 out with 30 mph winds so the gloves are great. | ||

I am sure. Heated gloves are on the WISH list. Either way, I want a switch for now! I found a rocker switch that looks decent, and mostly factory, but it does require cutting the control a bit. I would LOVE to find the OEM style switch. ac | ||

I think Al at American Sport Bike has just the switch piece available. I have used (and still do) the grips, and the gloves. Grips, as noted above, are AWESOME for those days/nights when you can't get home before weather blows in, or something unexpected happens, or the sun goes down and the temp plummets. You don't have to "remember" them...just flip a switch. Aaaahhhh. If you KNOW it's gonna be cold, though, leave the house with gloves on. They are lightyears ahead of grips for overall warmth because - again, as noted above - they heat the side of your hand that's in the wind, not just the palm. Currently, though...I've found that a combination of grips on lo and gloves on lo is the best for cold (and I'm talking single digits) weather. No hotspots, just comfy warm hands that can actually WORK the controls  | ||

Al sells the WHOLE control. I am looking for just the actual switch. At the most basic level it has to be some commercially available slide switch. If I can't locate one I will just order a small rocker switch and graft it neatly into the stock control. ac | ||

I may just go with this: http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/rockers/pdf/SR_S eries.pdf They are about $1 from most of the major suppliers. Seems a little more "affordable" than $56 for a whole new control housing. ac | ||

I have the heated grips from BMC. Installed them after the 20 mile ride the day she was delivered - it was 27*F. The first winter, my clutch fingers were cold often. Then I discovered clutchless shifting. Happy hands!!! I have CRS too, I'm 55 this month. I like NOT having to remember heated gloves. Z | ||

$160 heated grips are out of the question. If I can get a $35 set of heated grip liners and a $5-10 switch I will do it. For $160 I will take gloves EVERY time. ac | ||

Hey gang...i seem to remember something about installing accs... Must be installed after the accs relay in order for the ecm to control battery charging or excessive discharging.. just my .02 | ||

Accessories do not HAVE to be installed through the ECM controlled circuit. If they are, the ECM will decide whether the battery/charging system can handle the load. If not, the rider will have to decide. ac | ||

It's easy here in Colorado to get surprised. I have seen it(granted only once) go from 60 to 20 to 50 degrees in 20 minutes here. What is common tho is a 60 degree day that turns to 38 as soon as the sun drops. You are right about the accessory circuit, it is a recommendation... Zack | ||

off - on - on. First on is one element 2nd on is both elements. | ||

how difficult is the install with the buell kit? i have a cr, is the aux. jack behind the fly screen? hours wise, and tools wise, how long, and do i need any special tools/ bits, ect. thanks | ||

Buell kit is easy. This thread is NOT about that kit. It is about finding the OEM source for the heated grip switch. Ideally I will need detailed pictures of the switch itself. ac | ||
