Just a heads up...The preload / comp / reb settings on my bike (specifically the fork) were WAY off from each other / and per the book.

May want to check yours!!

Setting the suspension to the book was the first thing I did when I got home with the bike

You talking about from the factory? That is normal. Some dealers will set the suspension up for you before you pick it up.

I just rode it home so far...So it was the first thing I did...

I was just suprised it was different from one fork leg to the other.

I checked mine the first night too. My dealer (Cycle Connection, Joplin MO) had things set up for my weight ... But for peace of mind I wanted to check myself to make sure, like you said, that L/R were in sync. Mine was fine, but I did end up softening things up a bit which made for a better 'feel' and ride. You'll find that a 1/4 - 1/2 turn on some of those screws makes a TON of difference!

Part of my Salesman's pre-delivery work was walking me through the suspension set up and actually setting things up for me and checking sag etc.

THat's the way to start things off close to be right. At least they tried.

The suspension is not set at the factory, it is simply installed. One fork, two fork, one shock, bolt n go.

Dealers are supposed to set them up for the customer.

Wait.

Edit.

GOOD dealers will set them up for the customer on delivery.

A word of advice, though - ALWAYS go through your bike to make sure the things are right. Adjustable bits are nice and they work VERY well...when properly adjusted. My salesman was an idiot and had the adjustments backwards for the front fork compression and rebound the first time out...I had to fix that when I got home.

of course...I am my own salesman on this one....whoops, heheh

Also, keep in mind the colder weather will affect the way the suspension acts. Mine is getting a bit stiffer at night due to the temps dropping into the low 40's and upper 30's.
