My bike is giving me a low fuel sys error, is it ok to ride? I would assume that its just the sensor thats messed up but I just wanted to make sure. | ||

Could be low pressure in the fuel rail among other things. Is it setting off the CEL everytime you turn on the key, or is it a 1 time only deal? If it's consistent, get it in & get it checked out. If it's only happened once, hasn't reoccurred, and the bike seems to be running fine now, I'd say ignore it & have fun. Just my opinion & YMMV. | ||

I have gotten that, but only when I had about 2 miles worth of gas left. | ||

IF you bump the starter before the system pressures up, it can kick that code. I had that once early on, had it cleared at the dealer, and never seen it again. Don't worry about it, rock on. R | ||

Are you getting the Low fuel light AND the Check Engine light together? If so, that's the level sensor. Loretta is doing that constantly now that it's cold. The only "fix" I'm aware of is to replace the fuel pump ass'y. Zack | ||

Mine did it once, first startup on a real cold morning. The light eventually went out and she runs fine. Don't worry about it. | ||

My bike has the low fuel light on often during start up even before I hit the starter button. It doesn't matter if I actually have low fuel or not. I go by my miles instead of that light anyway. | ||

The low fuel light and the CEL light are both on...its on all the time. It sometimes goes away and then when I get a mile or so down the road they come back on. The bike seems to be running fine though. | ||

The fuel level sensor is a thermistor. The ECM expects that thermistor to be in the 800-1400 Ohm range. Some thermistors are off and go higher, at 40* F, mine measures 2200 Ohms. When the thermistor is out of range, the ECM triggers the LFL, then the CEL. The fix is a new fuel pump/sensor kit. Zack |
